Announcing Uncubed & Mediabistro’s Social Impact Partner for Q2 2021: American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)

Uncubed and Mediabistro’s ongoing commitment to having a greater social impact includes selecting an organization each quarter whose work we believe in, want to support, and want to share with our communities so that you can support their efforts as well.

Our contributions, which we formalized in June 2020 and have been working to improve upon since, currently include monetary donations alongside content and promotional support through our email, editorial, and social channels.

For Q2 2021, we’re excited to announce that our team has chosen the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES)!

With a commitment to expanding the representation of Indigenous peoples of North America and the Pacific Islands in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) studies and careers, AISES provides support and guidance through initiatives including academic scholarships, internships, mentorships, conferences, and career resources.

Currently, AISES supports 230 affiliated pre-college schools, 196 chartered college and university chapters, 3 tribal chapters, and 18 professional chapters in the U.S. and Canada.

AISES has awarded nearly $12 million in scholarships and is committed to aiding the next seven generations of Native peoples to be successful, influential members of the global community by focusing on the following objectives:

1.   Pre-college awareness and retention
2.   College access and success
3.   Professional development
4.   Strategic partnerships and research
