TLDR: If you’re hiring, we’ve got good news. If you’re planning layoffs, we’re gonna take care of your employees. If you are struggling with the switch to remote, we’ve got you covered. Plus, support from community members.
On average, I’d say anxiety and uncertainty are emotions we are going to be experts at dealing with in short order. I do hope that the silver lining shines through for you personally and professionally (here’s some inspiration from Becs Beslee – Thanks for S/O also).
On a personal level, it’s been hard for me to get my head around the events from this past week. Being oversees for 9 days during it all didn’t help. When I turn to social media for intel, the abuse being tossed around from folks I don’t know, folks I respect, and folks I love is present as ever. And that, of course, makes everything worse. So, I took a major step this week. I deactivated my Twitter account, 5 years after deactivating Facebook for similar reasons. Time to search for answers internally…
I’ll keep this email focused on how our team can help. For those that have known Uncubed (or myself) for the past 10 years, know that we’ve launched new strategies and offerings as times change. As before, we’re going to adapt our offerings a bit more to be extra helpful to our community during this time.

Off-Campus Talent Curation & Delivery: Our off-campus digital offering is expanding. Uncubed has a network of thousands of heavily curated students from over 500 universities. They’re here waiting to encounter unique opportunities presented to them through our platform.
Uncubed has been an extremely successful partner in hiring hundreds of diverse candidates from schools that many companies are not reaching on account of traditional on-campus strategies (IOW – picking 5-20 schools and visiting those same schools each year).

Virtual Hiring Event: On April 9th, we’re hosting a virtual hiring event for anyone affected by layoffs by expanding our successful Soft-Landing event series. These events curate a number of vetted candidates recently affected by layoffs and connect them with face-to-face interactions with hiring companies.

Remote Presentation (Video): Uncubed has been fully remote for a year. Mediabistro even longer. We’ve studied best practices religiously and can share any and all tips that can help get you up and running fast. Starting with this video presentation I made for our own team.
Remote Jobs: We are also building out remote-specific functionality across all of our job boards. This will be ready this week to help you attract remote-experienced candidates.

This is going to be a debilitating time for our economy. As always, marginalized communities will be hit the hardest, potentially setting them back decades. Just keep this fact in your headspace, because the consequences of economic turbulence and financial stress are, unfortunately, really bad.
