One Time at Bootcamp

With a journalism degree in hand, Mai Nguyen found herself stuck in a mindset familiar to many recent graduates: uninspired by the opportunities her college education had created. She wanted a job as a developer, but lacked the hard skills to land one right away.

Then, Nguyen enrolled in Dev Bootcamp, a short-term, immersive learn-to-code program that turns coding novices into hirable full-stack web developers.

Launched in San Francisco in 2012, Dev Bootcamp now operates in four cities, including New York. The program lasts 18 weeks, including 9 weeks part-time and 9 weeks full-time, along with a week of career coaching upon program completion. Students learn a whole suite of programming and web dev fundamentals, including Ruby, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, and more.

It’s also a boatload of fun – students at Dev Bootcamp’s Financial District campus are sure to be found collaborating in common areas or even doing yoga (when they’re not knee deep in newly learned code, that is).

If you’re interested in applying, you can attend a free tour, event, or info session at Dev Bootcamp – get in touch here.

As for Nguyen? She’s currently employed as a developer at Fuzz Productions. You can see her whole story here.

Now go forth (and go to camp).
