Hello everyone,

I had some fun meetings with folks this week, discussing a number of topics that hit home. For starters, I had a coffee at the beautiful offices of IPG where Loryn and I spoke at length about the unique characteristics the agency world faces when it comes to hiring and branding.

In short, imagine being responsible for recruiting talent into dozens of brands that operate as their own companies. Imagine the employer branding challenges that come with that. Plus, the business model is so heavily client driven that to scale up or down as clients come and go adds layers of additional complexity.

Anyway, some events, reads and sounds for you all:

The fine, fine folks at Potential Park, experts at talent trends, are hosting their US conference on March 8th in Austin. Check it out here.

Post’d is hosting an event on financial wellness in the workplace on January 24th in NYC. Check it out here.

As you know, Amazon coming to NYC in made quite the headline in 2018. Well, to those concerned, here’s Amazon’s pledge to the fine folks of this great metropolis.

Somewhat related, The Wall Street Journal covered how IT leaders are taking new paths to reach tech talent.

And here are some interesting topics trending on Linkedin: the most promising jobs of 2019, NYC’s new proposed vacation law (great news), and the insidious ageism that affects so many workplaces.

A few weeks back I recommended a book called The Heart Aroused, by David Whyte. Well, here’s a short audio clip of Mr. Whyte sharing poetic wisdom. Go ahead and listen to arguably the most enjoyable voice on the planet.

I’m off to Nashville tomorrow. I’ll be working remotely from my father’s for the next two weeks. If you have some nice Nashville tips, send them my way!!

I’d love it if you’d share this newsletter as a suggestion to your HR & TA pals on LinkedIn. Anyone can subscribe here.
