NY-headquartered Magnetic is growing fast to corner the ad-tech market

Remarkably, the standard model of physics still can’t fully explain magnetism. Still, that hasn’t kept us from harnessing its power for everything from electricity to refrigerator décor. The same might be said for figuring out what people want.

Magnetic is a New York-headquartered digital marketing startup that specializes in “search retargeting” – combining user intent data with display advertising.

Founded in 2008, the company has eight offices in North America (and one recently launched in London), and they plan to expand into new markets, Latin America and Germany among them, soon.

“I don’t mean to be glib, but it’s largely because the product works,” CEO James Green – who reported directly to Steve Jobs as marketing VP at Pixar – said. “In advertising, that’s the key… We want to move really, really quickly. The people who will win are the people who will make the right decisions faster than anyone else.”

In May last year, Magnetic acquired platform Cognitive Match, and in November they announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with Tapad.

Magnetic is hiring for ten open positions out of its New York office – most of them in engineering but a few more in Ad Ops, Finance, and Sales. Check them all out here. And they’ll be hiring a lot more throughout 2015, so keep an eye on that space.

Now go forth (and get aligned).
