The Data Rush
According to IBM, we humans are creating 2.5 quintillion bytes of data every day. The pace is so staggering that 90% of all the data in existence out there was created in the last two years.
(A quintillion is a 1 followed by 18 zeroes, apparently. We looked it up.)
The demand for businesses to understand this amount of data is so great that Harvard Business Review has called data scientist the sexiest job of the 21st century (you read that correctly). And Glassdoor just called it the job of year for 2016.
So what’s the best way to get started learning this magical data science?
One way is to enroll in a brand new course from the folks over at Metis.
Intro to Data Science is a part-time, evening course that’s completed in five weeks. You’ll learn to think critically about data-heavy problems. The course will teach you how data science is done in the wild, with a focus on data acquisition, cleaning, and aggregation, exploratory data analysis and visualization, feature engineering, and model creation and validation. You’ll also emerge with the ability to create data applications in Python.
So you learn all that, and you don’t even need to leave your job.
