Human Interest is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our accounting team. This role requires an individual with excellent business, communication and analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with various functions. Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity with strong attention to detail and a desire to learn complex processes and systems. They will also be eager to show what they can accomplish when given the opportunity, be able to focus on the fine-points and embrace daily challenges as opportunities for success with the company to expand and grow together.

To be successful in this high-volume role, you must be a hardworking and detail-oriented professional with exceptional communication skills as you will be communicating with the Accounting and Operations teams on a daily basis regarding various aspects of Accounting including but not limited to: month-end processes, reconciliations and related analysis, external audit support, monthly reporting packages, and ad hoc projects and assignments.

What you get to do every day 

  • Perform monthly GL accounting close tasks including but not limited to preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for the assigned areas that may include Cash, Fixed Asset, Bonus Accrual, Expense accruals, Deferred rent, Commissions Accrual, Deferred commissions, Stock based compensation, Equity Rollforward
  • Review monthly payroll entries and work closely with Senior Payroll Manager and HR to reconcile payroll and benefits related accounts
  • Ensure the timely deliverable and accuracy of the journal entries and reconciliations
  • Partner with business owners and FP&A team in preparation of the journal entries as needed
  • Research and resolve discrepancies between the GL and supporting documentation for assigned areas
  • Contribute to our monthly flux analysis & provide variance analysis for expense accounts. 
  • Assist with SOX implementation and ensure compliance with SOX 404 controls
  • Support internal and external audits and ad hoc projects as needed

What you bring to the role 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent, CPA a plus
  • Understanding of current GAAP standards and big 4 experience is preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Public company and SOX 404 experience are desired
  • Experience with NetSuite or equivalent ERP system
  • Ability to think outside the box, work independently with general supervision, be a team player,

The salary range for this role is between $120,000 - $140,000This information reflects a base salary range for this position based on current market data, and may vary by location. Exact compensation will be determined by the candidates' skills, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for additional incentives such as equity awards, short-term incentives, or sales compensation.
