KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Design Developer is an expert in UI/UX within the overall context of application development – bridging the gap between design and technology. This role is responsible for rapid visual and interaction prototyping, high fidelity visual design, and front-end development across the presentation layer.

 

o Build mobile prototypes to help the UI team validate interaction concepts

o Advise, collaborate, and provide input to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs

o Assist engineers with implementation of animation and motion design

o Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability

o Build reusable code and libraries for future use

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

o Minimum of 5 years’ front-end development experience

o Expert in designing + developing high-profile, complex experiences for iOS and/or Android platforms

o Expert in client-side mobile development using Swift, Objective-C, Java, or comparable language

o Working experience with Core Graphics, Core Animation, UIKit, Android SDK, and/or similar libraries

o Experience working with source control systems (Git, SVN, etc.)

o Experience working with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML

o Experience with adaptive UI design

o Experience within an Agile delivery team to iteratively plan and develop products

o Working knowledge of Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator

o Strong motion UI and interactive animation skillset

o Comprehensive knowledge of user-centered designed principles and UI best practices

o Travel between New York City, NY and State College, PA required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

o Familiarity with the AccuWeather brand and weather-related content

o Strong understanding of web development best practices

o Curious and globally oriented

o A digital native

o Social

 

Education

o Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or

equivalent professional experience
