Director of Quality Assurance

The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for all aspects of the software quality process -- notably both manual and automated test functions -- in the Aptos development organization.  They are accountable for ensuring their team partners well with all other development roles to deliver software with a high level of quality, predictability, and velocity.  This is achieved through strong leadership and collaboration, tactical and strategic decision making, and attention to continuous improvement.

Key Expectations of the Role

Stays abreast of and implements contemporary software development processes and techniques, such as around lean / agile development and continuous delivery

Collaborates with other department leaders to drive area improvements and cross-departmental efficiency

Maintains a strong understanding of all products in the company portfolio and how they work together

Creates and enforces standards for the testing areas of the development process - artifacts, terminology, tools, workflows

Optimizes resource assignment across the company's portfolio to achieve product management's strategic objectives

Works with field teams and customers as required to understand product expectations and incorporate feedback into future work

Provides organizational vision, community, and personal development for their constituents

Key Expectations of their Area

Builds quality in "up front" as part of the development process, while also serving as a final arbiter of release quality

Ensures that the functional user stories and cross-product workflows are successfully translated to defect-free software

Continually grows a library of test automation that covers both stories as they are developed as well as broader functional flows

Uses quality metrics and root cause analysis (RCA) techniques to identify opportunities for changes to improve future quality

Shares test cases, tools, and knowledge with the field teams to help them with test and triage activities in their projects

Other Notes

This position will report to the Chief Development Officer, subject to change in the future

Location in the Atlanta, GA, USA headquarters is most preferable, but other locations in North America are acceptable
