The Group Copy Supervisor is a senior-level creative department position. The GCS is responsible for providing direct support to the Associate Creative Director, Copy, and strong partnership not only with creative team members, but also with other BGB disciplines. As a mentor and manager, the GCS should help the company recruit, train, and retain talent. The GCS must possess superior conceptual and copywriting skills, knowledge of pharmaceutical requirements/terminology, and ability to persuasively present ideas/represent the agency POV to clients. This position reports to the Associate Creative Director, Copy.


  • Day-to-day copy creative lead on the book of business for a brand or brands handled by his/her copy team
    • Supervises all promotional copy, concepts, and campaigns across assigned brands
    • Partners with Medical to maintain the highest level of scientific accuracy in development of promotional work
    • Partners with Strategy and Account on project deliverables and objectives
    • Crafts superior promotional copy, including messages, concepts, and campaigns
  • Creative leadership
    • Supports cross-department conceptual efforts
    • Reinforces standards for creative excellence (STORM criteria) across the department, by example and through feedback to the team
    • Acts as a key client creative contact for the team; value recognized by the client
    • Contributes to team strategic and tactical planning
  • Partners with Studio, Digital, and Presentation to help establish and maintain the highest possible standards of execution for all materials across media
  • Team Management
    • Directs and guides the creative ideation and execution of subordinates (Copy Supervisor, Sr. Copywriter, Copywriter, Jr. Copywriter levels, depending on team staffing)
    • Provides regular feedback, including completion of APEs, and encourages their professional development
    • Responsible for team utilization
    • Oversees team workflow (staff allocation, project timing, and budgets) and alerts others when issues arise


  • Exceptional copywriting skills, with the facility to work across media and audience
  • Strong conceptual/ideation abilities, should present a portfolio of compelling, envy-inducing ideas and be able to communication the strategic rationale associated with the work
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Cool under pressure, flexible thinker, able to prioritize and delegate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with Adobe Creative Suite


  • 6+ years in healthcare communications, ideally with a history of
  • Launch experience (including accelerated approval launches)
  • Leadership of technical brands
  • Working on cross-functional teams (combining Medical Communications, PR, Promotion, etc.)
  • Participation in new business pitches
  • Continually pursues personal development to stay current in advertising, and better understand our brands and business
