ABOUT THE ROLE

The Bright Health Care Attorney role will provide guidance on legal and regulatory matters, and support for contracting, with a focus on the operations of networks, value-based care, credentialing, and provider disputes.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide legal and regulatory guidance to the company to assist with the business strategy.
  • Negotiation and drafting of network participation agreements with health care providers, hospitals, and other ancillary providers to support expansion and network maturation efforts.
  • Support pre-litigation matters arising in the network and other BHC businesses, including skills related to negotiating settlements.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise regarding applicable state and federal law and regulations applicable to Bright Health Care’s businesses – including value-based care, provider network contracting, and credentialing.
  • Assist compliance professionals with the Bright Health Care compliance program.
  • Assess and mitigate risk.
  • Work with other Bright Health segments regarding significant matters that cut across the organization.
  • Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes
  • Negotiation and drafting of vendor agreements that minimize risk and maximize business goals.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor required.
  • Four - Seven (4 - 7) years of experience practicing law required, preferably specializing in healthcare.
  • Experience in legal support for insurance companies, third party administrators, or other health care service providers preferred.
  • Experience with provider contracting, antikickback law, HIPAA and other data privacy laws, government contracting preferred.

  • Proficiency with health law and the application of federal and state regulations to the operations of the types of businesses managed by Bright Health Care
  • Exceptional track record of navigating legal matters within organizations
  • Experience with health care enforcement and compliance matters
  • Collaborative problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail

LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Active, unrestricted license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
