REPORTS TO: Account Director

ROLE: The primary responsibility of the Instructional Designer is to design and develop web based eLearning and live training courses. The production of course designs and strategies for blended learning, simulations and game-based learning is key to success in this role. The instructional designer will provide quality web-based, virtual instructor led and face-to-face training and will possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate corporate learning environments.

Critical success factors include: knowledge and curiosity about eLearning module development; ability to identify and address training needs by role; ability to create technical documentation for courses; and excellent, proactive communication skills internally and externally.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DAY TO DAY TASKS:

  • Ability to serve as instructional designer of online and live training courses that demonstrate sound strategies, instructional principles and techniques
  • Ability to design sound, complex training programs utilizing multiple delivery methods (computer-based, media-enhanced, instructor-led)
  • Conduct needs analysis by audience
  • Develop course and training objectives that align to strategic priorities
  • Design training courses and content including writing and editing instructional materials that can be adapted to a classroom or used in interactive eLearning training
  • Create highly detailed technical documentation for virtual instructor led courses
  • Recommend various instructional models
  • Utilize content provided by subject matter experts to write scripts, storyboards, and design documents
  • Create blended learning solutions
  • Ensure measurement standards are implemented
  • Build collaborative relationships with clients, subject matter experts, and peers

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 3-4 years relevant work experience in development of eLearning and live training programs
  • Strong verbal, written and client communication skills, analytical thinking, personal organization and interpersonal dynamics
  • Ability to work with clients internally and externally to identify and address training needs
  • Attentive to detail, action-oriented and able to effectively multi-task in a deadline-driven atmosphere
  • Thrive in a client-facing role (strong client service orientation) and possess a professional and accommodating demeanor
  • Program management and project management skills
  • Resourceful and pleasant to work with
  • Strong interactive training delivery skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience in animal health a plus
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theories
  • Bachelor’s Degree
