Software Engineering Manager, Core Infrastructure

BuzzFeed is looking for an Engineering Manager to help build and grow the Infrastructure teams who oversee the platform that powers our products. This is a huge opportunity to help shape the way we deploy, and operate production quality systems.

About The Job

We have built rig, our own platform as a service, to make it easy for other engineers to deploy and run their services. In the 2 years since we launched rig, there have been over 100,000 deploys, and we have over 400 services running on it today. However, we’re just getting started!

We're looking for an Engineering Manager with a high level of empathywho is passionate about creating tools and automation to develop and improve this platform. 

You Will

  • Mentor and manage a team of 3-5 engineers who build and maintain BuzzFeed’s core infrastructure, including the platform that all other services depend on

  • Lead technical projects and manage career growth for your team

  • Oversee the operations of your team

  • Empower the team do their best work, by managing processes to improve workflow

  • Help translate goals to technical projects

  • Collaborate with product and engineering in the design and architecture of systems

  • Be hands-on with code. Perform code reviews and architecture reviews

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation

  • Report to Director of Engineering, Core Infrastructure
