Android Engineer

BuzzFeed is looking for an experienced Android engineer who is passionate about building engaging apps. In the next few months and before reinvesting in the product we will be overhauling the BuzzFeed Android app, so the engineer brought on board for this position will have the opportunity to have a strong impact. This job is preferably based in our Minneapolis office but exceptions could be made for exceptionally strong candidates.


About The Job:

You'll collaborate with our product and design teams to bring the BuzzFeed experience to Android. You'll work as an essential member of our mobile engineering team to build outstanding products for Android. We have a collaborative and iterative development process and we're looking for experienced engineers to build state of the art mobile software.



  • Written native, concurrent, backwards-compatible Android code
  • Developed an app that has been deployed to the Play Store
  • Experience with Gradle/Android Studio
  • Experience with version control, code reviews, and unit testing
  • Experience building and shipping Android applications
  • Experience with Kotlin
  • Familiarity with Retrofit, Glide, or other network frameworks
  • Experience applying MVVM/MVP and other common design patterns



  • Mentorship experience
  • Experience working on a distributed team
  • Familiarity with Agile (Sprint based) project planning and Jira (or similar)
