Lead Managing Producer, Social Video

The Role

BuzzFeed is looking for a Lead Managing Producer to join our video team. The Lead Managing Producer will work with the video leadership team and the Director of Social Media to develop video content strategy and oversee two social video teams — one focused on user-generated content and one focused on using and optimizing BuzzFeed’s library of content. You will take ownership of strategizing short-form content across social platforms and be an expert on how BuzzFeed thinks about adapting content for different platforms and on how we use community, user-generated content, and our archive. This is an exciting time for this type of content and there is a lot of uncharted territory, so the ideal candidate is creative and versatile.

You Will

  • Directly oversee a global team of social video producers 
  • Give notes, feedback, and quality-check content to ensure it complies with BuzzFeed’s legal policies, and give ultimate final approval of all videos created by the team 
  • Guide team to quickly iterate off of successful/trending content 
  • Build on existing revenue and growth goals, and create new goals that help direct the team to achieve BuzzFeed’s overall mission 
  • Collaborate with social strategists and video producers
  • Collaborate with the content analytics team to develop and distribute relevant insights based on what we’re learning from user-generated and adapted content that video producers company wide can use when ideating and creating content 
  • Identify new opportunities to grow our audience and expand our reach on social
  • Partner with community team and content teams to come up with and build new crowd-sourced projects that engage BuzzFeed’s community
  • Create best practices around legal, permissioning, crowd-sourcing, etc 
  • Crack new formats for user-generated content

You Have

  • Data-minded a must
  • Able to recognize trends occurring on different platforms and communicate changes in strategy based on trends 
  • Obsessed social platforms and tracking data
  • Must be comfortable using tools like Google Sheets, Looker, CrowdTangle 
  • Great communication skills and be able to give and receive critical feedback in a small team environment
  • Must be meticulous, technical, organized, and creative at the same time
  • Ability to work independently and under close direction
