HuffPost seeks a fearless, clear-eyed and compelling writer to anchor our opinion section.
Along with the Opinion Editor, you will help define HuffPost’s voice in commentary and analysis, filing 2-3 columns a week off the news cycle. We put people first, champion democracy and hold power to account. We’re seeking an established writer with a record of lifting up those values as a columnist, essayist or explanatory journalist.
The ideal candidate should have great range and be able to write smart, urgent, and well argued columns off the news -- from political campaigns to cultural moments to business developments. While the role is based in opinion, you should be adept at talking to sources, digesting expert analysis, bringing history to bear and unearthing new facts. We’re not just seeking hot takes. The Opinion Writer should have a knack for cutting through the noise and helping our readers think about current events in fresh ways.
At least 5 years of experience in journalism, with an original voice and a byline that demonstrates the ability to write regularly off the news. Please include links to 5 clips in the application. Media experience is a plus.
This position is in the WGA-E bargaining unit.
