About the Role:

In this high impact role as an engineering leader at Confluent you will own the vision and delivery of the data infrastructure area within our Kafka engineering organization. As part of the data infrastructure organization, you will enable a high performing engineering team that solves complex distributed data processing challenges at scale.

More specifically, you will lead a few of the Core Kafka charters including Kafka Storage, Kafka Performance while managing cost margins of the Kafka product. In addition, you will define the future vision for Confluent and lead the way into new areas including data management, big data platforms.

What You Will Do:

Lead a team of engineers and engineering leaders
Drive long-term direction and strategy, while maintaining high levels of productivity and execution standards within your organization
Create competitive advantages for Confluent by driving technical innovation
Establish quality standards, design principles, and operational maturity for your team
Work closely with other engineering leaders to prioritize improvements in all these areas - from a culture of continuous improvement to prioritizing large and high impact initiatives that will fundamentally change Kafka
Drive the definition, design and delivery of cutting edge data infrastructure features for Kafka

What You Will Bring:

Experience leading teams and managers with a demonstrated track record of career development
Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, keeping engineers motivated, coaching and mentoring, and handling performance management
Passion about performance and running big data technologies
Demonstrated experience of building and operating storage infrastructure in Cloud at scale
Great track record of shipping features and project execution. Ability to move fast, iterate on incremental improvements, create a sense of urgency, and excellent prioritization skills
Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques; focused on building and maintaining a culture of collaboration within the team

What Gives You an Edge:

Previous experience with Big Data and Analytics
Previous experience leading teams focused on performance and scale
