At Coursera, our PeopleOps team is integral to enabling Courserians to forge their best work towards attainment of Coursera’s mission, while fulfilling their personal aspirations and career ambitions.

We are looking for a talented and innovative Compensation leader to join us as our first Comp expert with a passion for data and analysis to help build our organization. You are a thought leader on people and organizational topics.  You will contribute at both hands-on and strategic levels, and partner with a cross-functional group of subject-matter experts to design and execute your reward strategies for how we hire, motivate and retain our talent.  As a core part of your hands-on work, you will augment programs and roll out new initiatives to support Courserians. Your responsibilities and opportunities will grow as Coursera grows.

Your responsibilities:

  • Partner with Coursera’s leaders and People Ops partners to create a comprehensive compensation philosophy to influence lasting change over large functions
  • Lead the design through execution phase of Coursera’s compensation programs, including cash, incentive and equity programs
  • Drive modeling, project planning, communicating, and training for compensation programs
  • Consult with People partners, recruiters, and managers to make compensation recommendations and resolve compensation issues using a data-driven approach
  • Collect and analyze market data, and maintain salary survey data
  • Define Coursera’s competitive position of cash and equity based range structure
  • Develop recommendations for annual compensation cadence and budget adjustments to maintain internal and external competitiveness in pay plans
  • Boot-strap Coursera’s People Analytics function

Your skills:

  • Must have a deep expertise of broad-based compensation programs (base/bonus/equity), pay for performance, benchmarking/market data, job evaluation, etc.
  • 5+ years of compensation or related experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to see beyond the numbers to drive sound decision-making
  • Capable and confident communicator with ability to partner and influence senior leadership stakeholders
  • Demonstrated agility in a constantly changing environment and comfort rolling up sleeves to get things done and the next moment being part of deeply complex strategy discussions
