Senior Public Relations Manager - Regional & Partnerships

DoorDash is looking for a Senior Public Relations Manager to help build out its growing Communications and Public Relations team.

You will lead all local and regional public relations efforts, with a focus on launching new markets, building excitement around regional merchants, sharing the DoorDash brand story with regional media outlets. The ideal candidate will posses a strong network of local media relationships and have a keen understanding for what is newsworthy on a local level.

What you’ll do

  • Developing local media plans to promote DoorDash in each of the cities where we operate
  • Draft media relations materials including blog posts, press releases, social media content, fact sheets and more
  • Assist with media relations activities including list building and maintenance, daily media monitoring, and developing relationships with reporters
  • Project manage major local announcements including working collaboratively with cross-functional both local and internal teams such as sales, product, marketing and business development
  • Develop pitches and work with media on proactive stories
  • Independently identify and execute on opportunities to promote DoorDash to customers, merchants and Dashers through earned and social media
  • As with all members of the DoorDash PR team, you will contribute to internal communications efforts on a weekly basis

About you

  • You know what makes a compelling media story - and aren’t willing to send un-newsworthy pitches to your contacts
  • You’re on top of the latest communication and PR tactics and are eager to establish DoorDash as an industry-leader in PR
  • You’re willing and able to jump in on major, company-wide activations and announcements that are outside your normal day-to-day responsibilities
  • The media loves you - you have a strong network of local media contacts that respects you and the stories you provide
  • You ideally have a network of local influencers who you’d enlist to help promote DoorDash and our stories
  • You love to travel and are eager to get out into the field to build in-person relationships with key regional media contacts  
  • You believe proactive outreach gets it done! You craft strategic pitches, plan ahead and don’t embrace a reactive-only strategy
  • You write with personality and feeling and can make dry news read like fun news

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of public relations experience working for a top consumer brand or consumer agency
  • Stellar communication, writing, and editing skills
  • Strong and intuitive understanding of consumer trends and brand marketing
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex topics and translate into media opportunities
  • Understanding of key regional publications
  • Proven project management abilities and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • A love of food and food trends
  • An independent spirit that enjoys working on the road and in-region
  • Some experience working with technology companies or a passion for new technology
  • Experience working with media in an on-the-record capacity
