Role Description

Dropbox is seeking an experienced Vendor Manager to join the foundation of our rapidly growing Technical Operations team. You will be responsible for building the hardware server supply chain that will enable Dropbox to scale beyond our current one billion files/day stored by 500M+ users.


  • Manage the vendor relationships with key OEM and ODM partners including vendor selection, pricing negotiations and product transitions
  • You will be the liaison between Supply Chain and Hardware Engineering for vendor and hardware selection.
  • Utilize your expertise to lead high level negotiations and comprehensive agreements with vendor executives
  • Identify areas of opportunity and take the steps to implement an elite” supply chain through improvements
  • Partner with the Hardware, Capacity and Finance teams to make business recommendations based on specific vendor criteria
  • You will closely partner with Finance, Accounting and Accounts Payables / Receivables during monthly close and financial planning cycles
  • Develop metrics required to ensure quality, performance and on-time delivery of the servers. Develop scoring and scorecards to be used for rating the vendors’ performance
  • Prepare presentations to present to high-level executives
  • You will utilize your leadership skills to help to grow, develop and mentor junior members on your team
  • Identify and communicate potential risks, identify and present risk mitigation plans
  • Partner closely with commodity specialists keeping abreast of market trends including pricing increases and allocation situations, and figure out strategies for both
  • You will lead vendor meetings along with postmortems and build readiness reviews


  • BA/BS or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of OEM/ODM management experience at a major technology company with large infrastructure footprint
  • Experience with product lifecycle beginning with NPI. Knowledge of the various pre-production phases (EVT, DVT and PVT)
  • Experience with ordering hardware for data centers and server chassis
  • Experience with running Vendor Business and Technical Reviews
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes
  • Able to prepare and present quantitative and qualitative comparative analysis of sourcing alternatives
  • Excel, Word and PowerPoint experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required
  • Deep understanding and experience in supply chain and supplier management field
  • Ability to direct complex contract negotiations
  • Ability to generate RFP/RFQs
  • Strength in negotiations, cost/price analysis and purchasing procedures is also essential
