THE ROLE

The Director of Theatrical Publicity, Festivals and Awards plays a critical role to the company’s communications strategy and execution for the theatrical and film business as well as awards across the company. Their primary responsibility is to work alongside the VP of Communications and consultants/agencies on all external and internal Communications functions for Funimation theatrical film division as well as coordinate awards across the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Alongside VP, Communications and consultants/agencies, write all materials, including press releases, alerts, highlights, corporate information, internal communications, talking points, pitches, etc.

  • Partner with Theatrical Marketing counterpart on all strategies.

  • Liaise with media -- including consumer, trade/business, genre, international.

  • Work closely with the licensors and Brand team on all materials -- managing the creative and approval process, including timelines, delivery and distribution

  • Closely work with Funimation executives as well as licensor partners and film creatives, including directors, producers, designers, animators and voice talent.

  • Liaise with licensors and produce/present select presentations and strategies.

  • Work with the Theatrical and Experiential team on events.

  • Lead all film submissions in major international and regional film festivals.

  • Lead all film submissions for awards, including Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTA, Annies, etc.

  • Coordinate all television awards (Emmys, Peabodys, etc) as well as awards for the Creative teams and more.

  • Performs other duties as requested.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office, PowerPoint or Keynote, Google Suite, Outlook and Internet

  • Completed 4-year college degree

  • Preferably 7-10 years of related experience, preferably in anime, animation and/or film

  • Experience working with film festivals and leading awards submissions and campaigns

    • Ability to perform from A-Z: from strategy to execution

    • Excellent attention to detail

    • Experience with working with international colleagues and partners, often across multiple languages and time zones.

    • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once and prioritize

    • Must be flexible to change, a creative thinker and problem solver, and accustomed to working in teams as well as a self-starting individual

    • Ability to anticipate issues, be proactive and problem solve

    • Excellent and professional communication skills (spoken and written)

    • Familiar with anime, pop culture and current entertainment

    • Adaptability
