Sr. Design Release Engineer - Coolant Pump

Functional Role:
Join a team of highly motivated and skilled engineers who are developing thermal management systems for the world’s best electric vehicles. Faraday Future works with top notch Tier 1 suppliers to procure some of the critical thermal management components, such as coolant pumps.  We are looking for a strong team member who can jump in and fill the role of Design Release Engineer (DRE) on a fast-paced production program. Candidate should be knowledgeable in the field automotive thermal management, and have previous experience acting in the role of DRE to oversee procurement of automotive coolant pumps from Tier 1 suppliers. We are seeking someone who is well organized, a good communicator, technically capable, dedicated, enthusiastic, and can work well in a team environment. The DRE will act as the main technical/program interface between Faraday Future and the Tier 1. As such, the DRE role requires a broad skill set covering both technical and organizational attributes.

·       Thoroughly understand the application and use of coolant pumps within the thermal system
·       Act to ensure that Statement of Work deliverables are being met per the specified completion dates
·       Ensure that components are designed and delivered according to technical specifications
·       Coordinate and lead weekly teleconferences with supplier
·       Maintain a list of internal and external open action items and ensure timely completion
·       Track the program deliverables and work to align the component timing to vehicle timing
·       Coordinate and lead weekly/bi-weekly internal Product Development Team (PDT) meetings. These meetings bring together all parties needed to insure smooth procurement and integration of the unit within the Faraday vehicle, while meeting all specified requirements.
·       Review and approve supplier deliverables such as analysis and test data
·       Support integration of the components into Faraday vehicles as needed
·       Provide internal support to other Faraday teams related to your components
·       Coordinate and lead efforts to perform bench testing of units as required for issue resolution
·       Lead system level DFMEA and supplier component level DFMEA development
·       Support PFMEA development
·       Support validation test of HVAC system and sub-components
·       Support manufacturing in build of Gamma and Production vehicles.

Required Qualifications:
·       Minimum 5 years experience in automotive
·       Design release experience of automotive component
·       Minimum BS in engineering, Prefer MS in mechanical engineering
·       CATIA experience preferred
·       Clear understanding of centrifugal pump theory and application
·       Education/experience with emphasis in automotive thermal management systems
·       Familiarity with electric vehicle high and low voltage system architectures
·       Understanding of vehicle low voltage wiring interfaces and requirements
·       Ability to communicate technical information through written and verbal communications
·       Ability to interpret data and perform analysis
·       Ability to review DFMEA
·       Knowledge of high power component design and selection
·       Be able to interface and pull together a diverse array of team members:
o   Systems engineering
o   Thermal system engineering
o   Vehicle communications
o   High and low voltage vehicle harnessing
o   Mechanical packaging
o   Supply chain
o   Quality engineering
·       Work in team environment to develop complex product
·       Comfortable working with power and voltage levels common in EV systems
·       Ability to coordinate and/or perform basic lab testing (steady-state, transient, efficiency, etc)
·       Minimum 3 years industry experience or equivalent
·       Experience taking a project through to production
