The Director of Product Management understands and owns all aspects of First Orion’s products and services as a subject matter expert, conduit between leadership, business and development teams and evangelist for all First Orion product lines to existing and prospective customers, partners and industry affiliates. The director of product management focusses on improving existing First Orion products and envisioning and advancing new product ideas, concepts and strategies while serving as a knowledgeable and trusted client partner. The director of Product Management provides leadership and guidance to the product team which may include product managers, business analysts, designers and project administrators. The director of product management must have a strong working knowledge of Atlassian products including Jira and Confluence.  Additional responsibilities include:

Leadership

  • Inspire product team members to advance and improve First Orion products and services to be the best in market
  • Provide direction and prioritization to product team members ensuring all resources are being optimally utilized and allocated
  • Evangelize First Orion products to clients and internal teams helping advance the overall vision and corporate product strategy
  • Lead and participate in status meetings (internal and external) to represent product features and solutions

Product Ownership

  • Develop the roadmap strategy, vision, and prioritization of goals for First Orion products
  • Provide quarterly updates to senior management team detailing product historic product performance and future projections
  • Own and understand product KPIs and how they affect product planning in terms of features, usage and revenue
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for all business unit products for internal resources and external clients, partners and prospects 
  • Work closely with engineering resources to clarify product requirements and understand the architecture and interfaces necessary to meet product designs and requirements  
  • Participate in scheduled team and project meetings to socialize product information, updates, and progress while ensuring product requirements are being correctly implemented
  • Product strategy and planning
  • Define and communicate the First Orion product vision to all internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with business stakeholders to create and maintain product roadmap(s) in conjunction with client and internal requirements and plans
  • Identify and communicate on-going understanding of competitor activity and relevant industry trends
  • Manage and maintain Jira backlogs for each product/instance to ensure that features are managed and scheduled for current and future development sprints and align to ongoing roadmap planning activity
  • Ensure product requirements and enhancements are logged and managed in Jira application instances for purposes of product roadmap planning
  • Work with business stakeholders to define and track key product performance indicators (KPIs), as well as release-specific success metrics
  • Partner with the Data Insight and UX teams to incorporate quantitative and qualitative consumer data and usability research to drive product enhancements
  • Identify and drive short-term initiatives that improve the performance of the App alongside longer term projects

 Product Management

  • Monitor and manage Jira for product defects, enhancements and backlog items for scheduled releases 
  • Work with project and development teams to schedule and manage sprints 
  • Interface with Operations to gather product feedback and KPI data to document and plan future product fixes and enhancements
  • Continually compare and contrast product features with competitive offerings including feature sets and pricing 
  • Review wireframes & comps with design team to provide feedback and finalize product requirements
  • Interface with client resources to respond to questions and requests regarding current and future product requirements, performance and impacts 
  • Fully understand the role and purpose of internal and external API’s necessary to deliver the app/network solutions 
  • Participate and assist in the creation and execution of product demonstrations in conjunction with sales and marketing teams 
  • Review all app builds (iOS & Android) for alignment to comps and team expectations
  • Work with internal teams to ensure successful product testing process & implementation
  • Support Quality Assurance activities including application testing
  • Enter issues into Jira/Atlassian to address and prioritize defects and product enhancements
  • Test client messaging, notifications and marketing communications to ensure they are executing as expected both periodically and when updated
  • Monitor daily App dashboards

Required Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Product Manager in the telephony, mobility or related industry
  • Leadership of product managers, project managers, business analysts, designers or similar roles
  • Expertise with mobile technology, mobile devices, mobile applications and mobile networks in both B2C and B2B environments
  • Advanced knowledge of Atlassian product suite including Jira and Confluence
  • Agile Software (Atlassian)
  • Competitive analysis experience
  • Compiling status reports
  • Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Visio)
  • BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Stats, or equivalent experience

 Nice To Have Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of call management solutions
  • MBA in Information Technology
  • Certified Scrum Master
  • Telecom industry experience
