Reporting to the President and collaborating closely with the executive leadership team, the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) will develop and lead the execution of Flow Kana’s revenue growth strategy as our business evolves. The CRO will lead the Sales, Marketing, and Business Development departments to achieve the company’s revenue objectives and continue to position Flow Kana as a leader in the cannabis industry. Additional responsibilities include financial oversight, driving new product strategy, developing the overall product messaging and positioning, supporting customer education, creating marketing collateral, demos, videos, sales materials and supporting industry engagement.

As Flow Kana embarks upon its next phase of growth and development, the CRO will serve as a true strategic business partner and regularly measure and analyze productivity and effectiveness, create market positioning and define competitive advantages, and determine budget trade-offs with a goal of continually improving and driving sustainable results. 

Experience in a CPG brand, beauty or personal care company, or a food or beverage manufacturing company is desired. Previous experience working in a hyper-growth environment (scaling, aggregating, integrating businesses) is critical. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have worked in a dynamic growth environment where the focus has been on aggressively scaling up operations to take advantage of a significant market opportunity. Exposure to organizations that support sustainability, and are mission driven is highly valued.  

Functional Leadership

  • Break down silos so that sales, marketing, and business development are aligned and working together to create the best possible offering and experience
  • Create a culture of accountability by setting the right metrics and tying company performance, compensation and promotions to tangible results
  • Establish both short-term results and long-term strategy, including revenue forecasting
  • Drive monthly revenue results and take accountability for both short-term success and longer-term strategy
  • Craft and communicate the Company’s long-term revenue strategy for pioneering new markets and opportunities while ensuring goals are defined and met
  • Build and monitor the revenue pipeline and leads, adjusting as necessary to create sustainable growth
  • Manage the revenue cycle from customer acquisition to engagement to success
  • Plan and organize trade shows, field days/demonstrations, and other sales promotion activities as needed
  • Drive a “lean startup” style environment of constant experimentation and learning
  • Work closely with Operations and Finance department to define parameters of pricing and promotions to drive profitable sales
  • Lead strategic/business planning efforts, including company positioning, market and competitive analysis, customer segment selection and penetration plans, and related product positioning
  • Lead New Product Development and manage strategy and execution of product launches
  • Drive marketing leadership to create and execute winning marketing strategies to drive profitable growth
  • Set and execute the strategic “go to market” strategies for all brands and new products and use data to drive better product marketing and pricing strategy
  • Oversee marketing strategy as it relates to branding; build a holistic marketing strategy to achieve product and brand awareness, sales, and market education objectives
  • Define the performance metrics and KPI’s for running an efficient marketing organization 
  • Provide customer feedback to other functional groups on future trends and needs in product development

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree; and/or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years executive level experience in leading sales as a VP or SVP of Revenue or Chief Revenue Officer in a fast paced, high growth environment; prior experience at a CPG, cannabis or manufacturing/distribution company strongly preferred
  • Previous experience working in a hyper-growth environment (scaling, aggregating, integrating businesses) is critical. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have worked in a dynamic growth environment where the focus has been on aggressively scaling up operations to take advantage of a significant market opportunity
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements, system overhauls, and solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborative approach to managing relationships at the executive level, and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams to meet goals and drive growth, impact, and organizational performance
  • Significant experience in hiring, building and managing a top performing Sales, Marketing and Business Development team in a high-growth environment
  • Highly motivated with a proven track record of delivering profitable sales growth though wholesale channels 
  • A curiosity focused on finding new ways to market a product
  • Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, brand, product and service management, sales, and business development; along with a demonstrated track record of success and performance 
  • Mastery of negotiations and contractual terms analysis
  • An operator's understanding of the sales funnel data and management
  • Harness the power of data to drive and adapt go-to-market strategies and tactics that drive profitable growth
  • Business intelligence, data analytics, and reporting industry background preferred
  • Previous experience developing the strategic direction of a business, implementing that plan and supporting the Sales and Business Development side of the business 
  • The ideal candidate could have early larger Company experience but will have likely transitioned to a smaller high-growth Company (public or private)
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to negotiate well
  • Experience and knowledge in risk management and evaluation
  • Must be an individual with integrity and high ethical standards that is comfortable with creating systems of accountability
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under challenging circumstances
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time
