THE ORGANISM COMPANY
Biotech advancements enable companies to leverage HT genetic engineering to impact a variety of sectors, including pharma.
Ginkgo Bioworks, the Organism Company, provides the technology that is leading this transition. We leverage a state-of-the-art biological “foundry” to engineer biology that allows us to provide a range of potential applications for our partners in human health. We have raised over $150M in new capital in the last 2 years and are leveraging that capital to expand to new markets.
As the Senior Director of Business Development - Pharmaceuticals, you will leverage your knowledge of both the pharma industry and the capabilities of the Ginkgo foundry to lead the development and execution of Ginkgo’s strategy in the pharma space. You will build a BD pipeline with potential partnering prospects, understand industry needs and opportunities, and ultimately identify, negotiate, and manage strategic partnerships that leverage the unique capabilities of the foundry. You will utilize various BD opportunities, such as speaking engagements at industry conferences and writing white papers and articles for industry/trade publications (with support from the technical team), to educate potential partners about how Ginkgo can benefit the industry.
You are excited about the idea of bringing a new platform to the pharmaceutical industry. You have a strong technical background and a robust network with excellent relationships in the pharmaceuticals industry. You welcome the chance to be a pioneer in the rapidly-growing field of synthetic biology.

We also feel it’s important to point out the obvious here – there’s a serious lack of diversity in our industry and it needs to change. Our goal is to help drive that change. We hope to continue to build a company whose culture promotes inclusion and embraces how rewarding it is to work with engineers from all walks of life. Making biology easier to engineer is a tough nut to crack - we can’t afford to leave any talent untapped. It is the policy of Ginkgo Bioworks to provide equal employment opportunities to all employees and employment applicants.
