Elasticsearch Infrastructure Engineer

GitHub is looking for engineers to join our Database Infrastructure team. We are a team passionate about the availability, performance, and stability of the databases and search clusters that power GitHub. You are someone with experience crafting resilient search deployments through automation, performance monitoring, and optimization. As a database infrastructure engineer focusing on Elasticsearch, you will help build, maintain, and scale our search infrastructure.
The Infrastructure team is highly distributed and we thrive in an environment of remote work and asynchronous communication. You have strong written communication skills and are able to develop working relationships with coworkers in locations around the globe. As a member of our team, you'll always be challenged to solve unique and interesting problems that have real impact on how the world builds software.
- You have a track record of building infrastructure automation.
- You have significant experience with Elasticsearch infrastructure.
- You use a pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- A deep understanding of monitoring and troubleshooting
- Experience with operations in a large production environment
- You are comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed team.
- You've built highly available systems at scale.
- You have used Git as a developer.
- You have made contributions to open source.
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience with MySQL, Redis and/or Memcached.
- Interest in or experience with systems languages (C/C++, Go, Rust).
