As the Director of Product for Nomad, you will drive Nomad's product strategy to increase its open source growth and enterprise revenue. You will manage other product managers towards a common vision and mentor them to do their best work — user research, requirements definition, and roadmap creation.

Nomad is HashiCorp's multi-cloud application deployment solution. Nomad enables an organization to use one workflow to deploy any workload type, including containers, legacy applications, high performance batch workloads, and more. There are four product development workstreams within the Nomad product line — core use cases, developer enablement, insights/reporting, and ecosystem. As the Director of Product, you will build a product management team to own each of those workstreams.

Responsibilities:

  • Craft the product story by understanding the landscape, user needs, and HashiCorp principles. Engage with key customers and community members to drive roadmap

  • Review and approve the roadmaps submitted by product managers

  • Mentor product managers and give feedback on their work — user research, Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), field engagement, roadmaps

  • Partner with the engineering team to deliver on roadmap

  • Communicate product status to all partners. Keep sales and marketing updated on feature releases and keep engineering informed on feature requests

  • Orchestrate technical sales training for pre-sales engineers

  • Help with sales and marketing collateral to educate on the product story and features (Website copy, whitepapers, sales decks, FAQs, etc)

Skills and Experience:

  • 7+ years of product management experience with infrastructure products

  • 3+ years of managing other product managers

  • Strong user and market research skills

  • Ability to organize multiple stakeholders towards a common goal

  • Strong technical acumen, with a solid understanding of infrastructure principles

  • Experience with managing open source products preferred but not required

  • Experience with SaaS products preferred but not required

  • Experience with deep product design collaboration preferred but not required

Attributes we look for in successful product managers:

  • Humility and learning mindset

  • Information seeking

  • Explain complex ideas simply

  • Written, verbal, and visual communication skills

  • Responsible and takes ownership over work

Please note we require a writing sample for your application to be considered complete. This writing sample can be a Product Requirements Document or similar document that showcases your ability to distill complex ideas into simple items that can be delivered by another team.

About HashiCorp

HashiCorp is a company based in San Francisco that solves development, operations, and security challenges in infrastructure so organizations can focus on business-critical tasks. Who We Are HashiCorp was founded by Mitchell Hashimoto and Armon Dadgar in 2012 with the goal of revolutionizing datacenter management: application development, delivery, and maintenance. The datacenter of today is very different than the datacenter of yesterday, and we think the datacenter of tomorrow is just around the corner. We're writing software to take you all the way from yesterday to today, and then safely to tomorrow and beyond. Physical, virtual, containers. Private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. Windows, Linux, Mac. These are just some of the choices faced when architecting a datacenter of today. And the choice is not one or the other; instead, it is often a combination of many of these. HashiCorp builds tools to ease these decisions by presenting solutions that span the gaps. Our tools manage both physical machines and virtual machines, Windows, and Linux, SaaS and IaaS, etc. And we're committed to supporting next-generation technologies, as well. HashiCorp was founded and continues to be run by the primary authors of all our core technologies powering thousands of companies worldwide. We speak at conferences and write books related to application and infrastructure management. All our foundational technologies are open source and developed openly, and have been since 2010.
