The role

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a true startup and grow HelloFresh in NZ. 

We are looking for a hands-on, self-motivated and problem solving individual to join the Buying team. The Buyer role will report into the Procurement Operations Lead to manage and order the weekly supply of products ensuring our customers receive high-quality ingredients in time. 

This person will also have the opportunity to optimise the operations and day to day running of their category striving for operational excellence.

What you’ll do

  • Be in charge of managing the weekly supply of our ingredients to ensure our customers receive high-quality ingredients in time
  • Own the end to end ordering process; you will be the expert on all operational concerns for your category
  • Work with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-spec deliveries and optimise supplier operational excellence. 
  • Resolve any unforeseen problems relating to supply shortages, operational issues, or quality issues quickly and professionally. A high level of resilience, and quick thinking is required to solve these time sensitive problems.
  • Be a liaison between procurement and the warehouse/production teams, building strong communication channels for quick resolutions of potential issues
  • Assist with cost reporting and invoice validation
  • Work cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement in our processes and tools to drive growth and scale of business functions 

What you’ll bring

  • Ability to work well under pressure, and remain productive and positive when things don't go to plan
  • Ability to critically and creatively assess problems and make an informed decision based on the options available
  • Highly effective in time management and prioritisation - Able to juggle multiple demands at the same time, and prioritise those most critical to the business
  • Experience with relationship management  (creating, managing and maintaining relationships)
  • Able to negotiate with a variety of stakeholders (internal teams through to suppliers)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - Ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Good analytical skills, with strong command of Excel
  • A “whatever it takes” mentality that drives you to find solutions quickly and whenever needed
  • Proactive, ambitious and assertive
  • Preferred: Experience and understanding of Food or FMCG and the nature of the industry including pace, criticality of timing etc. Preferably with some level of commercial/operational experience.
