Summary of Responsibilities: 
The purpose of this role is to support the growth of Home Chef’s retail business efforts, both through existing Home Chef product lines and through strategic initiatives with our Kroger business partners. The Retail Strategy role will be responsible for high-impact initiatives spanning Home Chef and Kroger business lines, working closely with leadership teams at both organizations on building and enhancing the retail meals solutions portfolio.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility Area:
  • Lead and support strategic growth initiatives for Home Chef’s retail business
  • Manage innovation projects requested by Home Chef and Kroger executive teams to support growth of the Home Chef brand in retail; recent examples include Ocado rollout and capital request for additional coolers to support a new product line
  • Serve as “tip of the spear” to launch initiatives that do not yet have a natural owner within the current team structure; launch projects and coordinate efforts across retail teams to develop sustainable solutions
  • Coordinate Home Chef’s involvement on specific events and initiatives requested by Kroger team (e.g., innovation planning sessions)

  • Responsibility Area:
  • Conduct market assessments to inform the future direction of Home Chef’s brand & product strategy in retail
  • Evaluate competitive environment and consumer trends in retail fresh foods/meals solutions
  • Evaluate potential expansion opportunities into new products, untapped market segments, and line extensions of existing items
  • Coordinate with retail NPD, retail marketing, and relevant Kroger teams (e.g., Our Brands) on direction of the brand and potential new product introductions

  • Responsibility Area:
  • Support retail strategy and executive decision making
  • Develop materials for executive update decks to align on direction of the retail business
  • Support decision making and provide recommendations for VP Retail, Home Chef’s executive team, and Kroger executive leadership
  • Develop stage gate proposals analyzing specific initiatives

  • Individuals who are strategic, data-driven, can turn data into insights and actions
  • Ability to turn complex questions and issues into clear questions, analysis and results
  • Able to work cross-functionally at multiple levels of an organization on priority initiatives
  • 2+ years of experience in a rigorous fast-paced work environment –  consulting, finance, startup, etc.
  • Skilled at developing executive-level outputs in PowerPoint and communicating findings to leadership
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets analytics capabilities
  • Completion of 4-year degree
