The Lifecycle Marketing team is part of Hootsuite’s Growth Marketing team. We are a data-driven team passionate to improve business results through experiments, using a test/learn/iterate approach. We're looking for a Team Lead, Lifecycle Marketing to help us improve Hootsuite’s self-serve business. Reporting to the Director of Lifecycle Marketing in our Growth Marketing division, this role will own the underlying retention strategy and execution of end-to-end lifecycle marketing initiatives ranging from onboarding to win back. The ideal candidate will be experienced in executing data-driven digital marketing experiments/campaigns and will have strong customer empathy,  having no problems rolling up their sleeves and interacting with customers to understand the needs of the market to design lifecycle experiments/programs accordingly. This is a high-profile, cross-functional, role with numerous opportunities to collaborate with marketing, support, and product teams. 

While based in Hootsuite’s Vancouver or Toronto office (post COVID19) or remotely across Canada (in accordance with Hootsuite's local employment entities), you will report to the Director, Lifecycle Marketing.


  • Lead the day-to-day execution of lifecycle campaigns and experiments (email and in-product communications) and assess overall program performance, health, and effectiveness.
  • Lead and influence the execution/project team to ensure the campaigns/experiments are delivered on time, budget and in alignment with strategic priorities
  • Supervise a small executional team, including onboarding, training, work prioritization, and development according to Hootsuite’s leadership principles 
  • Make data-driven decisions to optimize experiments performance and inform strategy for better onboarding, engagement, experience, and churn reduction.
  • Drive A/B testing with control groups to identify the impact of lifecycle experiments and programs
  • Present the strategy and results of experiments/campaigns to cross-functional teams and Growth leaders.
  • Apply best practices in CRM and customer analytics as well as use qualitative and quantitative data to inform segmentation approaches and design tailored campaigns/ programs to our diverse user base.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including analytics, product growth, product management, and marketing teams to build and execute marketing programs that elevate customer experiences and retention in the Hootsuite product.
  • Coordinate with owners of relevant communication channels, e.g. email, in-product messaging, mobile etc to deliver the right messaging to the right user at the right time.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


  • Mid career level years of experience in marketing, ideally in Growth, retention, loyalty or lifecycle marketing. SaaS experience with product-led tech companies would be a plus.
  • Some years of experience in an emerging leadership role which can include managing vendors/agencies, informal coaching, and mentorship experience, leading cross-functional projects, etc.
  • Proven track record of working both at the strategic and tactical level to design, develop and execute experiments (test/learn/iterate approach) 
  • Deep understanding of customer behavior, particularly with respect to technology use, and an ability to get "inside the heads" of users and decision-makers in customer organizations.
  • Have an interest in social media and a passion for improving customer experience as well as feel comfortable with customer data.
  • Extensive experience working with email marketing, CRM, or similar marketing automation tools
