IBI Group is looking for a Project Designer to join our Mixed-use, Multi-family team in Los Angeles. Our collaborative approach to deliver projects is a direct result of our global virtual studio environment.  Our USA, Canada and International offices in major urban cities are leaders in working together on projects globally.  This team of professionals works closely, as part of an integrated, international project team, with a seamless connection to other mixed use / urban development practices across North America and globally.

Most of the things you’ll work on:

  • Engage with clients to understand the Project requirements, lead client and consultant meetings, guide the design process with thoughtful insight and best practices knowledge.
  • Coordinate the design, construction and management of building projects, including liaising with clients, statutory authorities, contractors, suppliers and consultants.
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality architecture, fulfilling the design aspirations of the practice and exceeding client expectations.
  • Demonstrate high professional and ethical standards.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities by leading elements of major, complex projects while also being able to work on small projects independently both with and without a supporting team.
  • Facilitate the management of resources and activities of the team(s).
  • Participate in the preparation of proposals, submissions, and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships, in particular with clients, consultants and contractors.
  • Add value to the business development activities of the department and office.
  • Demonstrate initiative in reaching out to other sectors to drive value and innovation for clients.

You'll need to have:

  • Completed a University Degree in Architecture, Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of architectural experience. Additional design competencies are an asset.
  • Experience in mixed use residential, commercial, hospitality, and retail architecture.
  • Experience in all phases of a project is an asset, from schematic design through construction administration.
  • Experience with large, complex projects within a multi-disciplinary practice.
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to understand how buildings are constructed and to create technical documents that succinctly describe the work to be done.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication and relationship-management skills.
  • Proven ability to place client needs at the center of the creative process.
  • Must be proficient in Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office. Revit skills a strong asset.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
