What will you do as an IBM GBS Entry-level Cyber Security Specialist?
As an Entry-level Cyber Security Specialist, you will have the opportunity to join Consulting by Degrees (CbD) - our world-class leadership development program designed to groom top talent entry-level consultants into tomorrow’s leaders. As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will work with a team of skilled and dedicated security specialists to design, develop and integrate solutions using best practice technologies, tools, techniques and products to defend against web-based or electronic attacks, and protect complex networks and applications targeted at our critical clients. Projects you could be working on relate to Cloud management services, Internet of Things, Mobile development and testing, and enterprise application development and maintenance.
As a CbDer you will be supported by program managers, peer buddies, project managers, and extensive in-person training. Each CbDer is aligned to a practice where they develop subject matter expertise in one or more industries as they work on multiple projects during the two-year program. CbDers receive a collaborative, challenging, and transformative experience that will help make you tomorrow’s leader.
What do we look for in a successful IBM GBS Entry-level Cyber Security Specialist?
A minimum GPA of 3.2 is a preferred qualification of this position, plus work experience through internships, project work, hands-on lab experience in a cyber-related role (security engineering/ software development/ block chain/ encryption solutions, etc.).
Familiarity with network design, network security, authentication, authorization techniques, and encryption protocols and standards.
Interest in working within public sector (i.e., Federal Government, State & Local Government, Defense, Healthcare, Education).
Foundation in technical knowledge of security engineering, computer and network security, authentication, security protocols and applied cryptography.
Experience with Cybersecurity tools such as log analysis, threat modeling, predictive analytics, machine learning, anomaly detection, data loss prevention (DLP), intrusion detection systems (IDS) and signature development.
Familiarity with tools such as Nessus, Splunk, Tripwire, Tenable Security Center, Hadoop, McAfee ePO, IBM BigFix, IBM Maas 360, IBM QRadar, IBM Guardium, IBM App Scan.
Interest and familiarity with Blockchain, Penetration Testing, Cyber Analytics, and/ or Cognitive Cyber.
Attainment of Security & Data Privacy certification, (CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Security+; CSX
Experience and/or course work in front-end web and mobile technology development, or multiple Java application frameworks is highly desired.
Ability to translate security requirements into business solutions
Ability to analyze anomalies in security monitoring tools, and work with team in identification, investigation, and resolution of security events and incidents
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year institution coupled with internship/work and/or project experience which will provide the analytical and technical acumen that translates to an entry level consulting role.
Preferred Degree/Majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems Computer Information Systems, Intelligence Analysis or Security and Risk Analysis with a discipline or course work in Cyber security.
