In the context of a new venture you will contribute to the prototyping phase of our data pipeline and machine learning engine. You will work directly with the CTO and be actively mentored on technical and scientific aspects.
As a data engineer you will contribute to:
Identifying & Collecting data from heterogeneous sources and access methods
(external API, crawling, plain files)
- Building & Enriching the data model
- Enabling access to data sets (internal API, visualization, backoffice apps)
- Application & Tuning of machine learning algorithms
Joining our startup in early stage, your work will have direct impact on our roadmap. Along the way, you will also live first hand what it means to build a new business from scratch.
We look for data geeks, familiar with programming, curious and eager to learn new skills. The following list gives you an idea of topics and languages. You are not expected to master them. (But if you do that’s great!)
- Scripting (bash, Python, Ruby, Scala)
- Databases (SQL & NoSQL)
- Data processing (Python, Scala)
- API & app prototyping (Python, Ruby, Node.js)
About The Startup
Our startup works on Insurance for Small & Medium Businesses (SMB). We forecast risks modifications in the insurer portfolio from sources which provide a lot more reactivity than usual consolidated internal data but with the drawback of being less reliable (ex. data from the open web). The project is hosted and funded by Kamet Ventures.
Funded by the AXA group, Kamet is a start-up studio. Kamet hosts entrepreneurs, gives them the opportunity to meet others, to share their ideas, and provides support in developing their business, from the ground up.
Kamet backs entrepreneurs building the next generation of groundbreaking technology companies, geared to improve, enrich or disrupt the insurance ecosystem. With offices in Paris, London and Tel-Aviv, soon in Asia and America, Kamet focuses on pioneering start-ups that are ready to scale across the global stage.
About the Founders
The startup is co-founded by two engineers, Benoît Pastorelli (Mines Paris, BCG) & Pierre Beauhaire (X, Criteo). Benoît has 9+ years of experience in strategy consulting, and comes with deep expertise on Financial services industry. Before joining Kamet, Benoit worked in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, and has been a mentor and investor for Insurtech startups. Pierre, after working on Operations Research at Air France, was the CTO & co-founder of a food & grocery comparison service acquired by Criteo in 2016.
We hire for long-term and full-time internships (ideally 4 to 6 months), starting anytime. Can lead to full-time position.
Kamet backs brash entrepreneurs building the next generation of ground breaking technology companies, geared to improve, enrich or disrupt the insurance ecosystem. With offices in Paris, and London, and soon in Asia and America, Kamet focuses on pioneering start-ups that are ready to scale across the global stage. Funded by the AXA group, Kamet delivers unparalleled access to a top corporations to match cutting-edge entrepreneurs with one of the world's most powerful FI/ Insurance company. A perfect storm is hitting the insurance ecosystem: Big data analytics and IoT, offering way to manage risks differently, new engagement models with customers, striving for simplicity and transparency, regulatory pressure, social networks, mobility and connectivity, each of the ongoing trends is opening endless opportunities to innovate and even disrupt a stable, conservative, often stone edged industry. There is a divide between market-leading corporations and innovative, technology-enabled startups: the first have scale, but are too large to innovate quickly; the second are innovative by necessity, but often lack the scale to make a broad impact. To date, one of the biggest complaints about VCs is that they lack the proper structure and resources to connect these two disparate groups. Kamet and AXA recognised this opportunity and created a platform that bridges the gap. At the core, Kamet is a fast start-up studio. We host entrepreneurs, give them the opportunity to meet others, to share their ideas, to benefit from ours, and we support them in developing their business, from the ground up.
