System Architect

The system architect for the Kensho National Security Division will design, implement, and optimize computing platforms used by the data scientists, quantitative geopolitical analysts, and data research analysts.  This person will be the go-to technical lead for computing infrastructure and will play a crucial role in the development of new products and capabilities. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a small team with little to no bureaucracy and having the freedom to continuously innovate with the latest technology products and services.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, document, implement, and optimize a complete development, test, and production computing environment for producing cutting edge machine learning applications
  • Build a strategic computing roadmap for the division and manage execution of that plan
  • Work extensively with the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Architect based in Boston MA
  • Develop a comprehensive cyber security plan compatible with Intelligence and Defense I.T. systems
  • Evaluate compatibility of information system development efforts with agency architectures and recommends adjustments, as appropriate
  • Evaluate problems of workflow, organization, and planning and develops appropriate corrective action

What We Look For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical field such as computer science, computer engineering, etc.
  • 3+ Years of professional experience developing computing platforms on cloud infrastructures
  • Familiarity with building computing requirements for advanced machine learning applications
  • Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services infrastructure
  • Experience managing real-time streaming data flows
  • Extensive experience with modern data structures, storage, and retrieval
  • Familiar with Agile software development process
  • Strong cyber security background or equivalent experience
  • Strong networking background or equivalent experience
  • Hands on keyboard, highly motivated, and collaborative individual
  • Proactive and able to perform independently with minimal direct supervision

How to Really Get Our Attention:

  • Master’s degree in computer engineering related field
  • 5+ years experience developing and supporting production software
  • Background in statistics and statistical modeling
  • Familiar with ICD 503 and computer security requirements for the intelligence community
