The AAS/DPP team provides a broad suite of reporting services to clients including:
—   technical advice and support on accounting and financial reporting matters, assisting clients to implement new standards, determine the appropriate financial reporting treatment for complex transactions, transition to changing reporting frameworks, and generally keep up to date with a changing financial reporting environment;
—   technical accounting support to the audit division in the delivery of financial statement audits.  The Audit division of KPMG is a significant supplier of audit services to clients and audits many of New Zealand’s top companies; and
—   other supporting services such as “Better business reporting” to assist clients in meeting investor and other stakeholder needs through adoption of more holistic reporting frameworks such as Integrated Reporting.

Be Interested:

  • The AAS Team is expanding its external client facing services.  Senior people are needed to deliver technically excellent work direct to clients through a commercial lens, support the internal technical needs of KPMG engagement teams and help build the Accounting Advisory practice. This will involve dealing directly with clients and supporting a range of divisions in KPMG (audit, tax, enterprise and advisory).
  • Specifically, AAS/DPP provides the following major services:
  • Interpretation of financial reporting standards and generally accepted accounting practice
  • Application of company and financial reporting legislation and securities legislation
  • Advice on international financial reporting developments
  • Preparation and delivery of technical training both externally and internally
  • Preparation of submissions on exposure drafts
  • Detailed guidance on difficult accounting and related legal issues
  • Preparation of external and internal communications on financial reporting issues;
  • Preparation and maintenance of engagement tools such as disclosure checklists and model resolutions; and
  • Advisory services in relation to Integrated Reporting, Non-financial reporting

Be Exceptional:

  • Delivery of accounting advisory services to range of clients from large listed entities to private businesses
  • Willingness to undertake business development activities and an ability to identify opportunities
  • Attendance at client meetings as required to discuss technical issues
  • Delivery of accounting advisory services internally to support engagements delivered by other KPMG divisions - audit, tax, enterprise, and advisory
  • Presentation and delivery at AAS Financial Reporting Updates to clients
  • Development of specialist technical skills and knowledge in IFRS, IPSAS and NZ equivalents of these standards, and relevant legislative requirements in general 


  • Proven technical experience in a public accountancy firm, corporate or governmental reporting environment
  • CA qualification (or equivalent) 
  • An ability to express views and ideas articulately, from both a written and oral perspective
  • Good presentation skills encompassing an ability to convey complex concepts accurately and succinctly
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • A high level of responsiveness to client needs
  • The vision to participate in strategy setting and marketing of accounting advisory services at a management level
