Director, Internal Communications

Lyft is seeking an experienced Internal Comms leader to own strategy and execution for our internal communications programs. Lyft is growing rapidly, and this role will be responsible for proactively ensuring seamless communication of key news, initiatives, and executive messages from our HQ in San Francisco to our growing employee base across the country. We’re looking for someone who can come up with creative, innovative ideas to inform, motivate, and delight employees; skillfully manage and assist executives with their team communications; and get in the trenches to execute plans and make things happen. This role reports to the Director of Internal Experience and Communications, and works closely with key executives, including the company cofounders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own strategy and results for keeping all team members in all office locations informed on important company news and updates in a timely, relevant, and engaging manner
  • Work closely with key company leadership to develop and disseminate important messages to team members
  • Partner closely with PR/Comms & People team on company wide communications, including crisis and change management
  • Proactively identify new opportunities and develop new programs to continually up level our internal communications program
  • Maintain the Lyft voice across all communications, written and verbal, and across company leadership
  • Keep Lyft fun!

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 8+ years experience guiding strategy and execution in a communications role, with at least 3+ years experience specifically managing internal communications
  • 5+ years as a people manager
  • Proven success building and implementing programs that inform and delight employees
  • Thrives in highly fluid situations and fast-paced environments
  • Deep interest in day-to-day news and long-term trends which impact the experience of working at Lyft
  • Self-starter, independently motivated, leads oneself and others
  • Experience tailoring communications to distributed offices, and both full-time/hourly workforce
  • Experience interfacing and working with executives
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Lyft user/believer
