The Identity team at Lyft is committed to upholding the highest level of security and seamless experience for all users on Lyft. Our work touches every users that signs up, logs in and uses our platform, across over a million rides a day. Our team’s scope encompasses both drivers and passengers, and includes complex and impactful products as:

-Authentication (Login & signup)
-Account security (2FA & OAuth)
-Fraud detection & defense (Fraud rules, client instrumentation & data science models)
-API protection (Anomaly detection & monitoring)

The breadth and depth of our team’s scope requires us to move quickly, but also balance that with scalable platform solutions that other engineering teams depend on. We run small team of 6-8 engineers that own the problem, suggestion and ship solutions and measure the impact of what we do.

  • 3+ years experience in backend software development & highly distributed systems
  • 3+ years shipping production code in Python, Go, Java or another object-oriented language
  • Proficient in SQL for data analysis and drawing insights on user behaviors and/or emerging trends
  • Experience designing scalable architectures and writing product specifications
  • Solid communication skills; ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both engineers and non-engineers
  • Team oriented, collaborative, and flexibleAbility to thrive in a startup environment

Desired Skills

  • Experience working with databases & datasets including Redshift, Mongo or Hive
  • Experience or interest in account security, fraud prevention or cyberattack defense
  • Experience or interest in experimentation or A/B testing frameworks
  • Experience in client frameworks (iOS or Android) a plus
  • Experience in web development a plus
