Lyft is seeking a Quantitative UX Researcher to derive statistically-sound insights about our users and their behaviors and to identify high-impact product and user experience design opportunities.

As a cornerstone member of our growing UX Research team, you will lead quantitative research initiatives, often working in partnership with qualitative researchers to build multi-faceted product and design insights, resulting in actionable recommendations. You’ll partner with product designers, product managers, engineers, and data analysts to drive product and design decisions and elevate the user experience for various types of Lyft users across 300+ cities nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the quantitative strategy for the UX research team, building strong relationships with the Product, Product Design, Analytics, and Experimentation teams
  • Develop hypotheses and plans for high-impact research by examining existing quantitative and qualitative data, as well as product designs
  • Design, run, and manage studies around user behavior and attitudes using a wide variety of quantitative methods, including designing and analyzing large-scale surveys; drive data analysis and interpretation with a focus on UX
  • Collaborate closely with qualitative researchers to generate well-triangulated results and robust tactical and strategic insights; coordinate when determining actionable recommendations which drive product innovation and design improvements for users
  • Find creative and compelling ways to present and evangelize the insights throughout the company, in order to help cultivate a highly informed, more effective, and more empathetic organization

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Marketing Research, or a related field
  • 4+ years experience conducting quantitative research in applied research settings, ideally within a Product organization
  • Proven experience with behavioral data analysis, designing surveys and experimental research, and analyzing large datasets using appropriate statistical methods
  • Experience with applied statistics/econometrics and R, SPSS, SAS, or Python for statistical analyses; must have strong command of SQL
  • Understanding of qualitative research methods and/or experience successfully collaborating with qualitative researchers
  • Proven experience collaborating with stakeholders / team members, with the ability to discuss complex, quantitative data to a lay audience, making research findings convincing and actionable for both research experts and non-experts
  • Willingness to take initiative, be proactive, and mentor others
  • Meticulous eye for detail, while managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Enthusiasm for a team-oriented, collaborative, highly energetic, fun and fast-paced environment

Bonus points

  • Experience conducting qualitative / multi-method research
  • Mentoring qualitative researchers, designers, product managers, and engineers in quantitative methods
  • Design thinking, visual communication, information design, and wireframing skills
