Lyft enables millions of people every week to get a ride at the tap of a button. At the heart of these transactions is Lyft’s Marketplace area which ensures that each ride experience is reliable, efficient, and affordable through algorithms that optimize supply and demand conditions.

Marketplace is one of the fastest growing areas in the company and is responsible for some of our most complex products: pricing, dispatch, ETA and shared ride offerings such as Lyft Line. As Lyft continues to expand its geographical coverage and suite of product offerings, we’re looking for a senior analytics leader to drive measurement, strategy, and tactical decision-making for our Marketplace teams.

As Head of Marketplace Analytics, you’ll work closely with cross-functional product, engineering, finance, and operations partners. You’ll define metrics, drive roadmaps, and uncover opportunities across the team. Most importantly, you’ll recruit the best analytics and decision science talent to use one of the richest data sets in the world and take on some of the most challenging technical problems in the industry.


  • Build and lead a high-performing team of analysts and decision scientists.
  • Partner with internal marketing, finance, engineering, operations, and product leaders to improve our marketplace business and prioritize projects for impact
  • Represent the analytics team in key meetings and business reviews with our executive team and founders
  • Lead the core reporting, metrics, data pipelines, and data sets for our marketplace teams
  • Lead and prioritize deep dives into our data to uncover new product and business opportunities
  • Responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of marketplace experiments; drive rigor and testing culture through marketplace teams
  • Collaborate with data scientists across the company on new models for our marketplace products

Experience and skills:

  • 10+ years of analytics / data science experience or equivalent; 5+ years of experience managing and building large analytics / data science teams
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in economics, applied math, statistics, engineering or other quantitative field
  • Skilled at running cross-functional relationships and communicating with leadership across multiple organizations
  • Deep expertise in experiment design, econometrics, and causal inference
  • Proficient with SQL, standard statistical packages, and scripting languages
  • Experience working with two-sided marketplaces preferred
  • Prior work experience on pricing / optimization problems preferred
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, challenging environment where decisions you make will have a large impact
