Management Leadership for Tomorrow prepares men and women of color to secure high trajectory post-college jobs that deliver economic mobility for their families, and then provides the social capital they need to become high-impact senior leaders who can transform our institutions and vulnerable communities.  Spanning college through mid-career, MLT’s programs have driven breakthrough results for more than 8,000 underrepresented minorities and 130+ partner organizations including leading corporations, social-sector organizations and universities.

MLT's Advisory Services team works with senior executives at partner organizations to help them:
- Understand the root cause drivers behind their diversity challenges, including understanding minority employee experience at their organization
- Create an organization-wide diversity strategy that directly attacks the root causes and will lead to the organization being in a meaningfully better place
- Implement winning strategies and tactics that give the organization the best chance at success

The Advisory Services Consultant is responsible for managing aspects of client delivery and will directly consult in a client-facing role with our industry-leading clients by helping devise their executive strategy, gain insights into their diversity challenges, and help advise them on how to solve for a sustainable and effective diversity strategy. Consultants work to ensure the success of each client engagement -- including project management and client communications, analysis and synthesis of data, preparation of client-ready materials, codification of learnings and insights, presentation of recommendations, and (at times) partnering with the client on implementing improvements.

We are seeking skilled consultants who are committed to working in the social sector, but still advising top corporate clients. While previous experience with diversity or talent recruitment/development is not required, experience working within a complex corporate or professional services environment is a must. This role will be based in MLT’s Washington DC area office (Bethesda, MD) although remote employee applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze client data (both qualitative and quantitative)
  • Ensure recommendations and insights are tailored to meet each client’s unique needs
  • Prepare high-quality client presentations and data visualizations to communicate strategic findings and recommendations
  • Ensure MLT is meeting client expectations and deliverables on-time and within the established scope
  • Establish team processes, templates, and engagement best practices alongside the rest of the team
  • Further build a repository of insights and recommendations that can be customized for future engagements

  • Strategy / management consulting experience or partner / program management experience required (must have experience interviewing, analyzing data, and developing client-ready presentations in a fast-paced work setting)
  • Strong storytelling skills utilizing powerpoint and/or google suite
  • Strong client orientation and relationship management skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with learning agility
  • Strong process orientation; must work to instill sustainable processes and systems
  • Strong results-orientation and sense of urgency
  • Commitment to the social sector and MLT’s mission and values

About Management Leadership For Tomorrow

John Rice at CitiAs a Harvard MBA student in the early 1990’s, John Rice began delving into the reasons why there were few other students there who looked like him. He developed a thesis for a nonprofit organization that would provide the training, coaching and networks that traditionally have been unavailable to minorities. In 2002, after a successful career at Disney and the National Basketball Association, John left the private sector to found the organization he first envisioned in business school: Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT). Transforming Lives Today, MLT has transformed the careers and life trajectories of more than 6,000 Black, Hispanic and Native American women and men – from college students to seasoned executives. MLT partners with more than 100 leading companies, social sector organizations and universities to strengthen their recruitment and retention of diverse talent. Know-How. Navigation. Network. MLT’s distinctive model provides the know-how, navigation systems and network to ensure talented underrepresented minorities are able to get on and stay on the path to senior leadership. MLT’s Rising Leaders benefit from exceptional coaching, skills training, and a powerful, professional network unlike any other – peers, mentors and senior leaders who share experience, trust and a commitment to helping each other advance. MLT’s experience and expertise are influencing national conversations about opportunity, race, workforce diversity and economic mobility, and proving that these vexing gaps and inequities can be overcome.
