Overview

Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) is seeking a customer-oriented individual to help coordinate, manage, and execute the engagement activities of a portfolio of MLT Tech/West Coast partner organizations participating in university recruiting activities and events for MLT undergraduates and MBAs.

MLT partners with companies to develop and recruit top Black, Latinx, and Native American talent with the potential to become senior leaders of impact and influence. 1,800 MLTers currently work in Tech companies, including partners like Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, Salesforce, LinkedIn, Intuit, Dell Technologies, etc. MLT also partners strategically with organizations whose values, missions and activities align with MLT, such as CodePath, SMASH, and others.

MLT Partnerships and building better companies for people of color

MLT recruiting partners play a critical role in recruiting, developing, and accelerating MLT fellows and in funding and achieving MLT’s vision and mission. Companies’ willingness to partner and continue to renew their annual MLT partnership is dependent upon successful engagement and execution with MLT’s programs that help meet their objectives.

MLT’s business model is relationship-oriented, unlike most diversity talent programs that are event or transaction-oriented. So, companies partner with MLT to help them shape, position, and promote their employer brand to attract diverse talent, connect them with top candidates, and to benefit from MLT’s ability to provide experienced guidance and feedback. MLT helps them recruit more successfully, to become a more diverse organization, and a better place to work for people of color. 

Companies partner with MLT for a year of engagements through multiple touch points with fellows/students who are going through a 12-18 month program of career discovery, professional development, and recruiting journey. MLT partners train, educate, inspire, and recruit MLT undergraduates and MBA fellows by participating in a wide range of in-person and virtual/remote activities with MLT coaches and fellows including conference calls, webinars, networking receptions, case studies, panels, interviews, and a range of sessions at in-person seminars.

Senior Manager, Tech/West Coast Partnerships

The Senior Manager, Tech/West CoastPartnerships is an externally-facing role focused on coordinating MLT Tech and other West Coast partners’ participation in university recruiting activities and events for MLT undergraduates and MBAs. It involves advising, strategizing and assisting  partners to effectively plan, and execute activities and engagement, ultimately positioning them to succeed by building long-term, sustainable relationships with MLT, our fellows, and our alums.

As a member of the Tech/West Coast team, this role is part of a growing, dynamic and entrepreneurial team. As such, the role requires a team approach and attitude toward helping others, as well as lots of flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities. And the role involves creative thinking of new approaches, processes, and activities to help achieve our mission and objectives. 

This high-visibility, fast-paced position reports to the Director Tech/West Coast who is responsible for all Tech/West Coast partners. Ideally, the successful incumbent will be based in the SF Bay Area.

Responsibilities

  • Involved in all phases of relationship management and partner success for the West Coast / Tech partner portfolio 
  • Onboarding: provide new partner onboarding as well as onboarding of new representatives at existing partners
  • Responsible for gathering and maintaining updated partner information regarding recruiting programs with MLT, e.g., key contacts, timelines, processes, and roles (Information is collected and updated externally from MLT partners, and internally from MLT program teams and other MLT stakeholders)
  • Manage regular partnership meetings (generally monthly or as needed) to maintain expectations and activities; review the MLT event calendar and coordinate partner participation in MLT events, seminars, sessions, case studies, interviews, coach calls, and the like; and ensure optimal partner engagement and brand awareness
  • Devise, draft and distribute partner communications with regard to MLT events, responding to partner inquiries, sharing MLT resources, etc.
  • Advise partners on strategies and tactics needed to meet the MLT partner “bar of excellence” and help them achieve their recruiting and DEI objectives 
  • Works cross-functionally with other MLT teams (events, alumni engagement, programs and tech) in support of West Coast / Tech partners
  • Track and analyze recruiting activities throughout the MLT event cycle; generate insights and provide feedback to increase partner effectiveness and hiring results

Qualifications

  • Prior background in customer success, partnerships, talent acquisition, talent development or career services is highly desirable, particularly in the technology industry
  • Customer champion: Interpersonal effectiveness and emotional intelligence to develop positive win/win relationships with MLT partners and with internal MLT stakeholders
  • Strong project management capabilities in order to manage engagements with multiple partners and outside resources. Well-organized and detail oriented with the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks concurrently with minimal supervision.
  • Process orientation towards continuous improvement
  • Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, team-oriented, cross-functional environment and dealing with ambiguity, uncertainty and able to bring structure and clarity, coupled with the ability to come up to speed quickly on MLT's various programs
  • Fluidity with technology, particularly cloud-based databases and systems with ability to manage and analyze data to draw meaningful conclusions; experience working with Salesforce platform desired
  • Experience managing complex projects and virtual teams, partners, and communities
  • Demonstrated commitment to MLT’s core values, and experience with and insight into the communities of those we serve
  •  Prior Event planning and execution experience a plus
