What We Do
As a member of the Communications team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for a great communicator who can understand complex, technical material and translate that into conversation and simple written material, blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more. It is also critical to be able to be able to adopt the point of view of the customer, and communicate the value of our offerings with that in mind.
You will be working as a key member of the Communications team at Mapbox. From media outreach and project management, to message development and weekly reporting, you will provide daily public relations support for our products and services. You will foster and maintain relationships with reporters across business, tech and trade press, and drive positive, impactful media coverage for the product.
It's our job to help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Mapbox’s products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. Things happen quickly at Mapbox, and to do great work you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, comms, marketing, product and sales.
What You'll Do
Help drive messaging and narrative development for the our products and services externally, including media pitches, talking points, briefing documents, blog drafts, fact sheets, speaker pitches, and more.
Work with cross-functional partners in the product & services organization, sales, customer success, and marketing globally to develop and refine communications content to ensure a consistent voice and effective storytelling.
Launch new products, promote customer and developer stories, and support content marketing campaigns, while simultaneously maintaining interests and awareness for the full family of products.
Act as media spokesperson, communicating the benefits of our products and key messages to the press.
Maintain media lists, coverage tracking and reporting, and industry trends.
What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
5-8 years of relevant public relations, media, marketing or communications experience working in a PR agency or with a mix of agency and in-house experience preferably in the developer, mobile, API/SaaS, on-demand economy spaces.
Demonstrated ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
Ability to think, plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion.
Proven communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with colleagues in different countries and understand cultural differences.
Demonstrate an ability and appreciation of working a relatively flat organization and very interactively with social media, content marketing, events, and other colleagues across the organization.
