Do you have a proven track record of writing for engaging user experiences and products? Are you a thoughtful creator who is passionate about words, skilled at crafting experiences that increase engagement, and able to write in a consistent tone of voice? We are looking for an ambitious and creative UX Writer to join our Design team.

Your work will be focused on the initiatives within the Community and Collaboration unit as part of R&D. This unit is responsible for the end-to-end platform experience for our developer community and the users of the apps built with our platform. You will help developers discover the Mendix Developer Portal: engage them with contents tailored to their needs, motivate them to learn and inspire them to build beautiful applications.

Design team:
The Design team is a distributed discipline across several units in Boston, Pune, Shanghai and Rotterdam, with many disciplines. From user experience research and service design to brand and product design, the Mendix design team is filled with creatives focused on elevating the user experience across our products. The team is always exploring new ways to be creative and tinkering with new technologies or techniques. We believe that cross-unit collaboration is the key to our success.


  • Write clear, engaging and consistent copy across multiple products
  • Contribute to scaling our overall content strategy and design system
  • Work to understand the needs of all types of users: refine your ideas by seeking out user insights and team feedback
  • Collaborate with product designers, developers, product managers, and technical writers on understanding problems and creating solutions
  • Truly own the language of the Mendix Developer Portal by constantly testing out new ways of structuring and presenting information for optimal user experience
  • Collaborate with the Documentation team on defining/improving the platform terminology and making sure it’s used consistently.
  • Define and continuously improve the microcopy guide for the Mendix Developer Portal together with the Documentation team. Follow the microcopy guidelines to keep the style unified across the product.
  • Be the voice of the Mendix Brand, making the experience of using the Mendix Developer Portal match our brand identity and its attributes and associations 


  • English language is your playground and you play to win. You can write the same idea in 10 different ways, and you know exactly which 9 versions to drop.
  • You have more than 3 years of experience in UX writing
  • You can show a track record of improving user experience and achieving business goals by writing clear and engaging copy
  • You are genuinely passionate about the role of language in people’s interaction with software
  • You have an eye for detail and nuance, but are able to prioritize and pinpoint exactly which changes would lead to the biggest impact
  • Experience with localisation and content strategy is a plus
