Mic is hiring a Washington correspondent to cover the day’s biggest political stories for our rapidly growing, highly engaged audience. We’re looking for someone who can both break news and write with flair. It’s a big opportunity for a journalist who can tell the big story across mediums — the written word, video and podcasting. Top candidates will have a history of doing just that.


  • At least 5 years reporting experience
  • A documented track record of breaking news
  • Ability to quickly develop trusted relationships with key sources
  • Strong, obsessive understanding of and interest in politics
  • A team player able to work seamlessly with far-flung colleagues
  • A deep desire to capture the grand narrative of what’s happening in Washington, without getting distracted by faux-scandals or party spin

Mic was founded in 2011 by Chris Altchek and Jake Horowitz under the shared belief that millennials are inquisitive, have a healthy skepticism for conventional wisdom, and crave substantive news to spark interesting conversations.
