Software Engineering Intern - Summer 2018
MongoDB, New York City
MongoDB unleashes the power of software and data for innovators everywhere
MongoDB is seeking talented students to help us build the next generation in database technology. Join the team that is helping the world’s most sophisticated organizations transform their industries by harnessing the power of data. Our internship program is based in our New York City office.
As a Summer Intern you will work directly with full-time engineering mentors on either an existing team or a new project. In both cases, you’ll do work that matters and gain practical software engineering experience. Interns are fully integrated software engineers who spend the summer pushing code, working on MongoDB’s products, internal tools, and more. Whether it’s contributing to our open-source database or one of our Cloud offerings, interns make lasting contributions to our engineering team.
Our summer program is comprehensive and interactive - you won’t sit behind a desk all day. We have social outings (think team dinners, broadway shows, NYC sightseeing, and more) and an intern speaker series where you’ll hear from some of the most significant and important people in tech today. You’ll gain insight into what makes a billion dollar company run. At the end of the summer you’ll be a better software engineer and a more informed citizen of the world.
The right candidate for this role will:
- Be in the process of receiving a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
- Have a solid foundation in computer science theory, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
- Be genuinely interested in MongoDB the company and be excited to use MongoDB in a project, if you haven’t already
Our Story MongoDB was founded in 2007 by Dwight Merriman, Eliot Horowitz and Kevin Ryan – the team behind DoubleClick. At the Internet advertising company DoubleClick (now owned by Google), the team developed and used many custom data stores to work around the shortcomings of existing databases. The business served 400,000 ads per second, but often struggled with both scalability and agility. Frustrated, the team was inspired to create a database that tackled the challenges it faced at DoubleClick. MongoDB is the leading modern, general purpose database platform, designed to unleash the power of software and data for developers and the applications they build. Headquartered in New York, with offices across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, we are close to where you do business. MongoDB has more than 4,300 customers in over 85 countries, including more than half of the global Fortune 100. The MongoDB database platform has been downloaded over 30 million times and there have been more than 730,000 MongoDB University registrations.
