To do so we are looking for a Head of People Operations who can help us attract, retain and develop talent so we can grow, but while maintaining our culture and core values of Customer Devotion, Transparency, Ownership and Resilience.

While we maintain our main headquarters in SOHO, NYC we also have a significant remote workforce located across the US and around the world. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Sawhorse Media has the people operations in place to support and develop our employees as we grow, while maintaining our values. You will work with leadership to build strategy and processes for performance management, manager development and recruiting.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who will take ownership of People Operations and is experienced at building HR processes in fast growing organizations with significant remote workforces.

This role reports to our CEO.

Your responsibilities will be:

  • Own and provide leadership on all human resources related activities and set our people operations strategy and processes
  • Build a recruiting strategy to attract, retain and grow the best talent
  • Develop performance management, compensation, and learning and development programming
  • Coach managers on leadership, team building and performance management and prepare high-potential employees for increased responsibility
  • Serve as a partner to our company leaders in developing and implementing an organizational structure across our departments that supports our growth and company culture
  • Maintain our benefits package to ensure it remains competitive and reflects our company culture
  • Build a world class onboarding program that helps employees quickly ramp into their new role
  • Work with our leadership team to maintain and evolve Sawhorse’s company culture and employer brand
  • Requirements you should have:
  • 10+ years experience in a people operations / HR role, with proven experience building and scaling people operations at high-growth technology companies, preferably ones with significant remote workforces. Specific experience in building scalable people operations processes from scratch, ranging from performance management to learning and development to compensation and benefits strategy preferred
  • A background in developing a recruiting strategy, especially in sales and software development, as well as strong belief in developing talent
  • Expert understanding of US employment law and regulations, compensation, benefits, organizational development, employee relations, and manager training. SHRM-SCP/SPHR certification preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, with the ability to know how to adapt for a diverse set of individuals and defuse conflict
  • Passion for public relations and journalism
  • Eagerness to build a people operations strategy that aligns with our long-term mission and growth
  • A hands-on mentality and a ‘no task is too small’ attitude
