Position Summary
As a Cloud Solutions Engineer, you will be taking on a wide range of client-facing activities in assisting our clients move along their journey into cloud native computing.  The Cloud Solutions Engineer is a hands-on cloud engineering role specializing in working closely with Nava’s federal customers who are both migrating existing solutions to the cloud as well as developing new cloud-native software solutions. In this role, you will work closely with our clients, technical leads, other professional services firms and other business units to ensure migrations are successful. Your tasks will vary from day to day and client to client, and as a Cloud Solutions Engineer, you will not only be able to make a technical migration plan, but you will need to confidently guide and educate Nava’s cloud customers and stakeholders through their migration.  

What You’ll Do
Cloud architecture: Designing and architect applications using the latest DevSecOps methodologies and on multiple CSP offerings.  Willingness to collaborate with the customer in making the best architectural decisions to meet the customer needs for their applications.

Cloud migrations: Identify and recommend solutions for Nava’s federal customers to optimize and mature their systems. Translate traditional data center infrastructure to cloud infrastructure and architecture  in the context of cloud migrations for applications.

Customer service: From design, planning, management, software maintenance, and assisting customers with questions, you help keep Nava’s customers engaged and happy!

Required Technical skills:

  • Broad expertise in cloud services (AWS, Azure) as well as cloud networking technologies (​​AWS VPC, Active Directory, LDAP, VPN, DNS, PKI, Firewalls, Load Balancers)
  • A working understanding of code and script such as, but not limited to: PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby, C# Visual Basic.
  • A working understanding with CI/CD tools such as Docker, Jenkins or equivalent.
  • A working understanding of scheduling systems such as: Kubernetes, ECS, Fargate, or equivalent.
  • A working understanding of orchestration tools such as: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or equivalent.​​
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies.
  • Experience in IaaS and automation/configuration management using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Docker, or an equivalent.
  • Experience with source code management tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or equivalent.
  • Understanding of hybrid cloud solutions and experience of integrating public cloud into traditional hosting/delivery models
  • Strong understanding of cloud migration techniques and workflows (on premise to Cloud Platforms).
  • Cloud-native architecture design and deployment experience
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery methodologies (redundancy models, backup and restore solutions, etc)
  • Experience as principal technical lead on at least one major project.

Required Experience:

  • Cloud architecture: Broad understanding of cloud services and potential application architectures.
  • Cloud migration: Demonstrated experience re-architecting applications and migrating them to the Cloud. 
  • Strong background in linux/Unix and/or Windows administration.
  • Experience with cloud and data migration technologies such as AWS Snow, Azure Migrate, Plate Spin, CloudEndure etc.
  • Experience building and deploying multi-tier, scalable, and highly available applications using a variety of programming languages and technologies 
  • Experience in performance tuning, including the following: load balancing, web servers, content delivery Networks, Caching (Content and API).
  • Varied experience in legacy application patterns on Microsoft or Linux platforms

Client-Facing Attributes:

  • Strong soft skills and ability to effectively communicate with Nava’s federal cloud customers and others within the federal contractor community.
  • Tactful, supportive and helpful mindset and the ability to communicate in a manner of  teaching and leading.
  • A client facing role within a professional services firm preferred
  • Able to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences, whether that be engineers or senior client executives

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors or equivalent in experience. 
  • 6-7 years relevant experience in cloud engineering, architecture and account management
  • Cloud certifications preferred (AWS or Azure trained / certified architect – e.g. Amazon Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional Level)

Other requirements

  • Residency: Lived in United States at least 3 years out of the last 5 years
  • Clearance: Able to attain and maintain Public Trust clearance or higher (An active green card or citizenship is required).

Annual Compensation: Up to $135,900 DOE

●  Must have lived in the United States for at least three (3) of the past five (5) years.
●  An active green card or citizenship is required.
● Candidates who are offered a job with Nava must possess work authorization which does not require sponsorship by the employer for a visa now or in the future.
● Offer of hire is contingent upon completion of a background check that includes a criminal record history review.
