The Act Two career relaunch program at NBCUniversal is a 6-month paid, fixed-term role for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for personal reasons such as caregiving. The program is open to women and men who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce (in an office/ corporate environment) for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or another dependent. Software Asset Management (SAM) & Licensing Specialist

This SAM Asset/Publisher Specialist sits within NBCU's Software Governance team, under the broader Enterprise IT umbrella. Here you can be responsible for adding to an industry-leading SAM & Governance program.

As a member of the Software Asset Management & Governance team, you will:
  • Drive maximum value from our license agreements for Server & End User Computing Software, while delivering a seamless experience for our users.
  • Manage, track and optimize NBCU’s portfolio of select software assets
  • Interpret software contracts and entitlements
  • Support vendor management and audit defense including analysis driving strategy
  • Briefing Executive Stakeholders
  • Create Executive Reports / Dashboards & automate the same
  • Developing a plan of action for licenses out of compliance
  • Identify, define, measure, report & improve KPI’s for in-scope publisher/title(s)
  • Utilizing your software licensing expertise by tracking, ensuring compliance, cost savings, risk mitigation, key metrics reporting, administrative efficiency of software licenses and overall efficiency of SW life cycle management (people, process & tools).
  • Manage key SW Publishers and the corresponding data around it
  • Ensure compliance, accuracy, completeness and creating processes, metrics and reporting to support license positions.
  • Transfer data into Flexera's FlexNet Management Suite and process/link to software licenses to create a holistic license position
  • Daily and strategic management and control of the software portfolio in order to optimize the value, cost and risk of software
  • This includes identifying saving opportunities through software re-harvesting and license optimization and working with Product Owner to execute the same
  • Identifying risks, savings opportunities for renewals, and harvest potential
  • Strategies to address risks / opportunities


• 5+ Years’ experience as a Software Asset Manager
• Solid experience using Flexera FlexNet Management Suite or equivalent
• Familiarity with SCCM, JAMF and ServiceNow data
• Experience using procurement tools, such as SAP and/or Vroozi
• Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
• Experience with the following Publishers a plus: SAP, Microsoft, VMware, Adobe, Oracle, RedHat, IBM, Symantec, Veritas
• SaaS, Amazon, Google, Azure and experience with other cloud technologies a plus
• Review & define processes and business requirements for automation & service improvements
• Identify, define, measure, report & improve KPI’s for in-scope publisher/title(s). Able to create executive Reports / Dashboards & automate the same
• Strong analytical & communication skills to prepare & present periodic accurate internal reporting around complete license position & related analysis for in-scope SW Publishers on a periodic basis
• Manage & execute required processes & reporting for renewals, true-ups, certifications & audits by collaborating with various internal & external stakeholders as needed
• Ability to partner & collaborate with multiple key internal & external stakeholders, including Procurement, Legal, Finance, Sourcing, Vendor Mgmt, IT Asset Mgmt, Product Owners (Software Owners), Architects, Administrators, Engineers, User Groups, Vendors/Resellers, to help collect, organize and obtain critical information required for the management of software assets
• Maintain a strong working relationship with leaders whose departments consume/deploy a large volume of software titles
• Bring to the table some of the industry best practices in Software Governance, associated processes including SW requisition & fulfillment, procurement, asset mgmt., systems automation, and general project management
• Be a strong team player, collaborate effectively with the SAM Technical Platform support & Operations team, to define, document & agree on SAM data requirements across the software lifecycle for automation and software license optimization
• Familiarity with hardware technology and configurations include program including creating documentation and conducting training
• Successful Software licensing audit defense from large technology vendors
• Understand basic IT components (infrastructure, software, PCs, Databases) and how they interact
• Knowledge of product use rights for key publishers such as Oracle, Microsoft, Adobe, SAP, Symantec, IBM etc.
• Experience with SAM technologies offered by vendors such as Flexera, SNOW or ServiceNow
• Familiarity with hardware technology and configurations including cloud/virtualization technologies (VMware, AWS etc.)
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team
• Mindset to continuously improve the SAM processes, reporting and metrics.

• Cloud Practitioner Certification
• Project Mgmt. experience / Certification
• SQL - Basic
