Level: Manager (Supervisor)

The Senior Network Engineer will be part of the team responsible for the architecture, engineering and operational support of NBCUniversal’s perimeter networks that include NextGen firewalls, VPN remote access, Internet connectivity (including DMZ design), Cloud enablement, plus local and global traffic management services. This is a new non-managerial role that will be responsible for sustained availability ensuring network device OS versions are current as well as participating and leading teams/vendors to remediate EOL device (Cisco routers/switches, Palo Alto & ASA Firewalls , F5 load balancers). This role has global reach and requires the skills to work effectively in an enterprise environment servicing both internal and external clients. Potential candidates must possess good working knowledge and experience with network equipment lifecycles and processes, along with network security, core routing and switching design, configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco, Palo Alto and F5 products. Global Network Perimeter supports a large number of business units including On-Air broadcast networks and TV stations, internal application server farms, cutting edge enterprise data centers servicing proxy and web hosting environments and external facing 3rd party vendors. This is a senior technical role primarily is focused on network sustainment with opportunites to work closely with direct team members, other network and cyber security teams in design, deployment and support activities as well as ensuring corporate, network and cyber standards are followed, documentation, training and hand offs are completed as engineering projects transition to operations.

•Working level knowledge of IT network security, routing and switching concepts and technologies. Should have subject matter expertise in firewalls, load balancing, core routing and switching.

•Initial configuration and support experience with Palo Alto FWs and Global Protect VPN services, F5 LTM/GTM, Cisco Routers/Switches/Nexus.

•Experience in virtualization technologies, Cisco ACI, AWS, Azure, SDN and SDWAN, Scripting (eg.Python) and RestAPI is a strong plus.

•Minimum of 6 years experience in engineering and operations for a major enterprise in a 7x24x365 environment. Normal hours and business days apply, but must be available to work after hours, weekends and some holidays as well as providing L3 on-call support on a rotation basis will be required.

•Strong communication skills are essential to leading technical discussions and providing direction. Must have solid documentation experience with Visio, Word, Excel, as well as being goal oriented with an initiative to work until job is complete. Ambitions to learn new technologies as well being a team player will be key to success.

•Senior level industry certifications in networking (CCNP/CCIE), security (CISSP) or other relevant domains are required.

•Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience required
