The WiFi Network Engineer is responsible for monitoring, support, maintaining and designing the diverse WiFi networks supporting all of NBCU customers and locations. Tools include, but are not limited to, Ekahau, Omnipeek, Netscout, Metageek, Nyansa and others. Our engineers are expected to have RF knowledge as well as be able to understand customer requests and turn them into approved and implemented designs.


The WiFi Network Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the NBCU WiFi network, with the objective of proactively ensuring its reliability and availability for NBCU’s employees worldwide. Responsibilities include projects, requesting fulfillment, documentation, troubleshooting, metrics and reporting. Individual must be willing to perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

Potential candidates must possess a range of the following skills:
  • Knowledge of RF.
  • Familiar with wireless LAN technologies, in particular Cisco wireless
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting in:
      • Cisco ISE
      • RF Spectrum analysis
      • Voice over WiFi
      • High Density deployments
      • Cisco Prime/DNA
      • Wireless monitoring/reporting (Such as 7Signal or Cape)
      • Understanding of general wired network principles
  • Responsible for implementing complex projects (any “first time” builds). Would include from predictive modeling to active survey and final deployment with validation surveys
  • Evaluate new platforms to provide better proactive monitoring and planning information
  • Systems enhancements and optimization
  • Familiar with common monitoring and alerting systems and comfortable with SNMP and net flow
  • Train and mentor other engineers
  • Responsible for Tier 2/3 troubleshooting and escalations

•Minimum 5 years’ experience leading complex project builds with proven performance to achieve on-time completion of projects.

•Demonstrate successful design, planning and implementation of wide and local area network architecture, including troubleshooting and capacity planning.

•Expertise working on a team with motivated cross functional individuals focused on a common goal of delivering cutting edge solutions to meet aggressive business demands in an everchanging environment to achieve on time and on budget completion of projects.

•Industry certifications a plus

•Strong communication skills

•Solid documentation experience with Visio, Word, Excel

•Ambitious and goal oriented, with initiative to work tasks to completion.

•Willing to participate in periodic 24/7 on-call rotation.

•Willing to travel, work off-hours and on weekends as required.

•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
•Relevant industry certifications a plus
•Strong background in wireless communication design and configuration
Cisco Wireless
Wireless surveys
Wireless site assessment and audit
•Experience in design and implementation of voice & video network infrastructures.
•Knowledge of Cisco Prime, Wireless LAN Controllers and Cisco ISE are preferred.
•Experience in design and implementation of Quality Of Service (QoS), able to customize across Cisco platforms to support Voice, Video, and other applications
•Experience in scripting/automation a plus
•Experience acceptance testing of new hardware and software.
•Experience supporting broadcast, streaming and IoT devices
•Experience working in support of TV/News/Media industry a plus.
